In Soviet Union there were actually lots of women in construction – mostly interior like painters and wallpaper gluers, sanders; also lots of crane operators (for some reason). But I don’t recall any women in positions of authority or decision making though

I was out and about the other day running some errands round town centre.
On one of the busier pedestrin high Street was a pair of youngsters hivized up and helmeted doing something with one of those construction survey camera things on legs (dunno not my brand of manly). On the three separate occasions I walked passed them, the boy was doing the work while girl chatting in her phone.

I’m all for equality in job outcomes. I think half the painters, carpenters, hole diggers, jackhammer operators, sky scraper workers and ditch diggers should be female. Until this goal is reached I think we should halt the hiring of males to do the job. Just like we currently do with management in white collar jobs.
