Right or wrong good or bad, another Campaign promise kept.

Look, idk if tariffs will be a good or bad thing, time will tell.

I do know that during the Campaign Trump said he would impose tariffs and he did.

President Trump signed an order Thursday that imposes tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from all foreign countries, while carving out an exception for Canada and Mexico for now while North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) negotiations are under way.

    More Here

This s~~~ will hopefully be fun to watch.

Just means aluminum products are going to get more expensive. Commercial construction likes to use those 3/4 aluminum studs, a lot cheaper than wood I assume. Probably not going to be the case in another year.

This is targeted primarily at China.

For most countries, the Trump Administration will use it a a bargaining chip in country to country negotiations, to extract other things the US wants. He said as much, the US is quite willing to remove the tariff thru negotiations on a one-on-one basis.

No such deal will be struck with China for a long time.

China knew this was coming, and have been asking for a high level trade meeting for about a month now. Trump has said no. First we are going to have a look at the theft of our intellectual property.

China is pretty worried about all this attention. No other country can replace the US as a place to sell its goods and they DO NOT want a trade war with the US right now. They have a huge property bubble, the banks are in trouble and the only thing making all this work is exporting goods that make money to subsidize government owned industries. China has a fear of high unemployment.

    They’ll make concessions.

I don’t always agree with Trump but these Trade issues should have ben addressed years ago. We have sent a huge amount of our wealth to China, a strategic rival, for the last 25 years because it made folks in the financial sectors very very rich.

Not so good for us average Joes.

I like it he’s in there throwing a few punches….

How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.

    Dixie, you are not whistling.

The Klintons sold America’s IP to China.
I don’t know if Trump is doing the right thing but at least he isn’t selling his country out.

Trump is exactly (minus the money) what the founders had in mind for a citizen Government.

Again, hate or love, Trump is not a politician or a lawyer (sorry Pete).

Would we be willing to pay for steel that isn’t too thin and cheap to use? We would be willing to shell out a buck more for your kids toy not to be covered in lead paint? Would it be worth it to bring back manufacturing jobs to the USA? China has been putting it to the American worker for decades till we hardly make anything and have rung up this huge trade deficit. China even makes our military uniforms and if we went to actual war, it might end with us fighting in the buff. We are already in a trade war and we have been losing it for a long time. How else can it be turned around? How do we bring those jobs back to the USA? Any thoughts?
