THE PLANTATION HAS NOW TURNED INTO THE KILLING FIELDS . WOMAN ARE NOW ROLLING CAMBODIAN STYLE .
I first started getting interested when I was about 4 (early 80s). I was given “Model Railroading” magazines and John Allen’s “Gorre & Daphetid” (pronounced “Gory and Defeated”) layout was my initial inspiration; he was a master craftsman and left no detail untouched. This clip barely scratches the size and detail of his layout, which was destroyed shortly after his death.
Truly Amazing videos, thanks Blade. The love for miniatures is well alive around the world.

Well, gentlemen if you like model trains and beer, I would suggest visiting the city of Helen, in north Georgia, during October.
Helen has a large model train display:
Also, Helen has one of the largest and longest Oktoberfests (a month long festival) in the United States:

Had a great train shop with a big layout at the back of it . My first love of trains begun .
Seen you mention model trains a few times . Hope you enjoy the thread because i have checking this stuff out .
Got to say the lego trains that they can run out doors impressed me . Thought they would look bad . That would of cleaned up back in the day as far as sales go .
Longest g scale train . I like how he has the ballast under the track tucked in and neat when it is out in the grass .

Thanks for posting this thread Blade; it definitely refueled my interest in the hobby. I agree with you that the outdoors lego layouts were impressive; I had plenty of legos but never took them to that level. I still have some leftover N and HO scale stuff, and will probably make a simple indoor double-loop design for starters; gotta admit that G scale layout is pretty cool.
Within this hobby, many “kitbash” (create new scale models from pieces of existing commercial model kits) some of the buildings/features in their layouts; there are some REALLY talented modelers out there. I never did that with any of my prior layouts, but am anxious to do so.

Wow Blade, I could clearly discern (at least):
1. The engine.
2. The squeaky brakes.
3. The pneumatic valve for the doors to open/close.
4. The conductor’s whistle.
5. The alarm before the doors close.Well, gentlemen if you like model trains and beer, I would suggest visiting the city of Helen, in north Georgia, during October.

When i was thinking of designs for carved coffee and dining tables i was thinking of something simular to this in the table .
Also battle scene under the glass was another idea . I was into painting small soldiers from when i was young . Great escape to .
But there are some great small set ups . This build is in fast forward

Man, I forgot about the coffee table under-the-glass layout approach – that’s badass! Nonetheless, a display, certainly a battle scene, just adds so much more; either recreating historical conflicts, or creating your own.
The neat part is a small, simple layout can still yield a great effect. And even then, that initial small build can have at least one switch line built in to allow for expansion later. My inner Casey Jones is chomping at the bit now!
I appreciate the attention to detail w/ the buildings and landscape surrounding the train tracks. My brother used to have a big electric train set. It was fun to watch it roll.
"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)
I like the garden set as well as the steam one. Pretty f~~~ing cool.

I was nearly going to build one before i lost all my s~~~ for a second time .
Was teaching my kids how to draw on the parts and cut them out off the balsa . Making little shrubs and s~~~ .
I worked in my garage to be a stay home dad so it was a new buisness i was working on and had slabs of timber that me and a mate was cutting .
I was going to make a set up so i could lower and raise it to the ceiling so i still had my space to work . It would of been cool
