Thrifty Or Cheap?

after looking at my electric bill i noticed,
rates were a bit lower after 9 p.m.
so now i only do laundry and use the drier after 9..
tip; the lint from the drier can be used as firestarter or to re-stuff a stuffed animal for kids..
( i finally bought a needle and thread to sew with..instead of paying someone to mend a button on a shirt)
thrifty or cheap?
i shop for sale items, mostly foods..
i require very little new clothes,
i take vitamins, every other day.
doubles the time to buy more..

i stopped cigarettes and bought a vaporizer,
the e-juice gets pricey so i make my own .
.
i have two credit cards which have debt,
i borrow from one and pay the other every year or so,
0 % interest on the balance for that time..
.
whole wheat pasta and boiled eggs are my food staples,
meat on the weekend.
saves money and saves my health .
i cooked professionally for many years as a chef,
one large pot of say, chili can give you up to 5 or 6 meals for a dollar or two each,
cook once and freeze portions for later..
.
when i did smoke tobacco i bought loose and rolled my own with a small roller.saved a lot .
i have excellent water , tested perfect ..
i bought stainless steel bottles and never buy water..
.
guys, WHAT DO YOU DO TO STRETCH YOUR MONEY ?

Smoke rollies . A cheap brand i found lasts longer because the tobbaco is not as wet . Me and my father are lucky enough to be in a housing commision unit witch is lucky . And it is close to beach . Beautiful position . Rents are high here . Live pretty simple and the best things in life are free . Take my father for coffee with our friends of a morning . Sit at my beach in the arvo .

Noticing price of food is going up fast here in oz . Have you guys noticed that where ya from .

yes, food prices are steadily going up.
get some canned goods when you can with long expiration dates .
uh,..hate to say it but tuna is a good buy,
make sure it is solid and not chunk.
i prefer water ,
but a brand called GENOVA tonno ..solid tuna in olive oil,
is excellent.
gold label and long shelf life.
i hit it straight out of the can..
.
sardines , skinless and boneless in olive oil are great.
..brown rice
spam..a canned highly salted meat product lasts for years..
big in Hawaii..
a can of pineapple with spam and some rice..
not too bad..

secret to spam is to fry the hell out of it,
slice it a bit thick and in to a very hot skillet.
almost burn it..
pink center and crispy outside.

still have to eat.

get some candles and some large water containers and your ready if the s~~~ hits the fan..
and ammo.
lots of ammo.
…………
rocket stove and fuel ..
check sporting goods stores for propane burners to cook with.

soap and some extra towels..
toilet paper.
toothpaste and brushes..
..
this turned in to a preppers thread !!!

Know your needs from your wants. Even more important is not making your wants into needs. Focus on your needs and peace and contentment will follow.

Another great resource is The Ultimate Cheapskate book series by Jeff Yeager. Well worth finding and reading.

Also, avoid whimyn at all costs.

Sounds like you’ve got it down Hitman!!
Cook for yourself as much as possible. If I think/feel I need something that is pricey I don’t act on impulse. Wait a few days and I usually I realize I can live without it. Get rid of clutter and donate. The more I realize how little I need the less I want. Long term spend a few extra dollars and buy quality. Thrift stores/dollar store is the way to go.
