Finally got one Friday! about an 80 pound doe. I had a hell of a time wrestling her carcass into the back of my Ford explorer. Since this was at night I wasn’t using a rifle but rather a pistol chambered for 10mm. WOW I had always wondered what those rounds (185gr/HP) would do to a body; and now I know—I hit her three times and those rounds leave really big hole in the other side. It was a mess getting her into the truck.

Anyway so much for the long dry spell. (I knew putting out a salt lick would change things.)

Why did I shoot her three times? It was dark, at about 20 yards and the first round hit her in her hip and she tried to run off …so being a little excited I just started popping off rounds in her direction. What ever works is OK with me.

This explains why you looked like a serial killer Saturday. LOL

At least the freezer will be full.

Can’t do that here. S~~~, it is even illegal to feed the bastards.

Good work, that’ll last you a while granted you freeze it right away as you know.

Let us know how your kill tastes when you get a chance to dig in.

10mm is a great cartridge. I had a Tangfolio Witness Hunter, 6″ barrel.
Had low recoil for the 10mm.

It was the blued steel model, but I used Dura-coat green on the frame and slide. Kept the hammer, safety, and slide release blued.

Looked awesome, green with black accents. Harvested two does with that pistol. Sold it to my friends dad, who couldnt carry rifles anymore. He gets one every year with it!

Exactly what I used–but those 185g HP sure make a mess. I was covered in blood trying to grapple that thing into the explorer.

    Awesome.
Hunting is a good MGTOW topic.

LOL – I used Hornady, they worked great. I went with several people, so I had help.

You need a trailer hitch mounted winch. Has a hand crank, and swivels.

So much easier on the back, and no more blood and hair in the mouth 😆

Putting out a salt lick and shooting a deer in your yard with a pistol isn’t exactly what I would call deer hunting, but getting on zoom chat looking like you just got back from a chainsaw massacre? Priceless. Sorry I missed it. Was there anything left of that deer to put in the freezer?

No they refused to process her because doe are not in season for two more weeks! Damn it!

Pete!!! Here they would have ratted you out to the local brownshirts for out of season kills. You ever make it up my way this time of year and have the funds for an out of State permit, consider yourself hooked up.
Sitting beside me is a 21 point rack I got when I was 14. Would have scored Pope & Young, however his right antler/head where hit while rack was growing and pushed in by a vehicle thus lowering the score. He still hit 162 on scoring despite only one side of his rack actually spread out as it should be.
