The first global study into egg freezing found that shortages of eligible men were the prime reason why women had attempted to take matters into their own hands.
Experts said “terrifying” demographic shifts had created a “deficit” of educated men and a growing problem of “leftover” professional women, with female graduates vastly outnumbering males in in many countries.
The study led by Yale University, involved interviews with 150 women undergoing egg freezing at eight clinics.
Researchers found that in more than 90 per cent of cases, the women were attempting to buy extra time because they could not find a partner to settle down with, amid a “dearth of educated men”.
Experts said the research bust the myth that “selfish career women” were choosing to out their fertility on ice in a bid to put their careers first.
They said sweeping social changes meant that many professional women now struggled to find a partner that felt like an equal match.
In recent decades, the gender balance at British universities has tipped dramatically.
In 1985, 45 per cent of UK students were female, but by 2000, 54 per cent were women.
This group, now in their late 30s, is finding it harder to find a man of equal status, fertility experts said. And the trend is set to steepen in future generations, they warned, with nearly six in ten current students female.
The research, presented at the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology conference in Geneva, was based on detailed interviews with women in the United States, and Israel. But the lead author said similar trends were likely in the UK, where women are 35 per cent more likely than men to go to university.
Prof Marcia Inhorn, Professor of Anthopolgy at Yale University, said professional women found themselves losing out in a game of “musical chairs” because there were simply too few men of the same calibre to go around.
“There is a major gap – they are literally missing men. There are not enough college graduates for them. In simple terms, this is about an oversupply of educated women,” she said.
“In China they call them ‘left over women’. It sounds cold and callous but in demographic terms this is about missing men and left over women.”
The former President of the Society for Medical Anthropology said the women interviewed in the study were highly successful, with 81 per cent having a college degree.
“These are highly educated, very successful women and one after another they were saying they couldn’t find a partner. How could it be that all these amazing, attractive intelligent women were lamenting about their ability to find a partner?” she said.
“The answer comes in the demographics – growing disparities in the education levels of men and women.
The anthropologist suggested some women might need to be prepared to compromise some of their standards in order to find love. But she suggested society should act to increase the number of men going into higher education.
“It may be about rethinking the way we approach this,” she said.
“Most women who are educated would like to have an educated partner. Traditionally women have also wanted to ‘marry up’ to go for someone more successful, financially well off.”
“Maybe women need to be prepared to be more open to the idea of a relationship with someone not as educated. But also may be we need to be doing something about our boys and young men, to get them off to a better start.”
Some women were paying a high price for feminism, she suggested.
“As a feminist I think it’s great that women are doing so well but I think there has been a cost that has been paid,” she said, warning that many had been left in “sadness and isolation”.
In some cases, the women taking part in the in-depth interviews said they would be happy to be in a relationship with someone less educated, but they felt they were “intimidating” to the men who were available.
Researchers said that until now, many commentators on egg freezing had assumed that it was being driven by a desire to preserve fertilty, while rising up the career ladder.
“I think this is an issue that has been misinterpreted so much – this idea of a selfish career woman, putting her fertility on hold,” said Prof Inhorn.
Professor Geeta Nargund, medical director of UK clinics Create Fertility, said: “It is something to celebrate that more women are going to university and getting educated but, at the same time, when it comes to starting a family it seems there is now a societal problem with these women finding men at the same level of education.
“Women tell us frequently that they are freezing their eggs because the men they meet feel threatened by their success and so unwilling to commit to starting a family together.”
Prof Adam Balen, President of the British Fertility Society, said: “We are seeing some big societal issues, in particular in some social economic groups, with young men not committing.”
One in five women in the UK is now childless by the end of their fertile life – compared to one in 10 a generation before, he said.
Last year less than 105,000 male 18-year-olds started university, compared with almost 135,000 females, UCAS figures show, with more women than men on two-thirds of courses.
The gender gap for higher education is now as large as that between rich and poor people, which was described as a “worrying inequality” by former UCAS chief executive Mary Curnock-Cook.
British fertility experts said the gulf was “terrifying”. Dr Gillian Lockwood, executive director, IVI said: “It exacerbates the problem of men not wanting to ‘settle down’ and start a family until it’s almost too late for the woman to conceive naturally.
And if she insists, he’s quite likely to leave for a younger woman whose biological clock isn’t ticking quite so loudly.”
Her own survey of women doing “social” egg freezing found the overwhelming majority of women having their eggs frozen were doing so because they could not find a partner, or because their own partner would not commit.
Typically, it costs around £10,000 to freeze eggs and keep them in storage for 10 years in the UK.
Professor Simon Fishel, founder of Care Fertility, said: “Anthropologically we are always searching, consciously or unconsciously, for like-minded people so it is not a great leap to understand that women are looking for someone on the same level, who is university-educated or a professional.
“This problem of “missing men” is absolutely the case in many situations in the UK, but there is a wider problem behind the increasing desire for egg freezing, not least about men and women being too unaware of their biological clocks.”
“Almost all of the women in the study who employed egg freezing were heterosexual and wanted to become married mothers,” the research found. “Women lamented the ‘missing men’ in their lives, viewing egg freezing as a way to buy time while on the continuing (online) search for a committed partner.”
The study found that more than 90 per cent of those freezing their eggs were not intentionally “postponing” their fertility because of education or careers.
“Rather they were desperately ‘preserving’ their fertility beyond the natural end of their reproductive lives, because they were single without partners to marry.”
“In most cases, these women were unable to find educated men willing to commit to family life – the reflection of a growing, but little-discussed gender trend, with women increasingly outnumbering male college graduates,” the report found.

1. Every educated man who’s been through the feminist c~~~ machine known as college or university in the last 15 or 20 years has been Red Pilled about women’s real nature more savagely and thoroughly than any part of any generation in memory.
College men learn at a young age to avoid the c~~~s at all costs. They learn from what happens to themselves and the men around them that even the slightest remark, joke or look can have devastating life consequences.

2. Hypergamy rules. Despite their noble victim rhetoric, blaming men of course, they won’t look at a man who’s lower on their socio-economic scale which automatically cuts out about 80% of all men. The 20% of men who they want can get far younger and hotter women. They’re not interested in some old arrogant, know-it-all, man hating c~~~. This is exactly the same crowd who’ve been chanting “Women need a man like a fish needs a bicycle” all their lives.

How pretentious!
1) Women pushed men out of the marketplace on all fronts. They used their male shaming and leftist teachers to shame men and shove them out of the colleges, so men would not get their degrees.
2) ‘Marry up’ there’s that hypergamy again. These educated women want to ‘marry up’ to someone with higher status and earning potential so she can stay home and retire. Because her degree isn’t meant to lead to a meaningful career, but instead it’s a trophy for her to display to all her friends. These women don’t even love the guys they’re marrying. They’re marrying for CONVENIENCE. Which is what absolves them of any guilt while they f~~~ Chad Thunderc~~~ on the side. Because they were never attracted to the guy they’re trying to find now. They only need him for his resources. His career, his money, his seed, his social status…
3) Women cut down their own availability pool by being so picky. As if a man with no degree it a worthless shmuck or something. So they ignore that guy seeking only the one with the degree that she can latch onto.

There is no shortage of men. There are tons of men. Men are not the problem here. This article shows that women are materialistic and still believe in hypergamy. They will only marry men who are at equal or higher social-economic class. So women are limiting themselves. It’s their own fault.
Men don’t limit their options of women based on status or wealth.

Then perhaps women should stop thinking so highly of themselves. Girls are taught from birth they not only deserve, but are entitled to be treated like princesses. Men, on the other hand, are simply expected to be men. This has led to a hypocritical situation in modern society where women cry about male privilege and sexism while, in actual fact, the ‘privilege’ is stacked far more in the female favour than people realise.Women are taught from birth that they only deserve the best, that men should do everything for them and essentially worship them as though they are goddesses. What are men taught in return? “Just find a nice girl who loves you.”
While women are told their men should meet the ridiculously high standards put forward by modern feminism and media, all men ask is that a woman isn’t dangerously overweight or disloyal.
These standards and demands seem to be reinforced in women who find any kind of success. They join together studying media, law or hair and beauty and then delude themselves into thinking that men who instead chose to work and learn a trade through the hard graft aren’t worthy of them.
As far as I’m concerned, these women who will accept nothing less than perfection deserve the loneliness they’re suddenly facing. Vanity, after all, is a sin.
Not to mention how civil and criminal courts both are biased towards women to a significant degree. A lot of men at the ages those women are have probably struggled through divorce and child custody cases, or know plenty of examples of those who have; in many cases the mothers act horrendously and the courts still favour them. These things really drain a man; why should he risk putting himself through that?

Which is why most young men are skipping marriage.If the number of young women entering college was falling, the number of news reports and government studies would be staggering. The point of an ‘education’ is to increase earning potential skills – not going to college does not mean someone is without earning skills. In fact, nowadays a skilled tradesman can earn more than college grads. Why? Because they do something useful.I have 3 degrees FYI. Try choosing men with good IQs – the uni degree is not point.

All of the high powered successful men they are looking for are not interested in them. They would rather have an attractive younger woman of lesser status whom they can take care of and who will be satisfied with the simple role of wife and mother.I have never once met a man who was attracted to a woman because of her education and career status. Rather it is intimidating. “I will never be able to make her happy”.
Also, single men in their 30’s and 40’s have already likely been through the divorce mill and are no longer fresh and optimistic about marriage and children. They missed the window when men are idealistic enough to want a wife and family and they are physically attractive enough to warrant such devotion.

I have run across so many mid-30’s female lawyers that was about a 4-6 in the looks department seeking a 9-10 male partner and are simply shocked they can cannot find a ‘decent’ man. Further, these women tend to be the most shallow people on earth – they don’t want the guy that is the partner at the firm that is older and has a dad-bod, they want a guy that is 35, a self-made billionaire, and part-time underwear model.At the same time, they turn up their nose in disgust when they see a 40 year old guy with a stunning 26-30 year old girl on their arm because he is only with her for her looks. This generation will have an unparalleled amount of wealthy but miserable spinsters that will serve as a warning to the younger generations.
As a last point, with globalization and the decrease in racism, white men now have unprecedented access to seek out females in other countries (Asia, Eastern Europe, etc) with which the 30+ career girls in the West simply cannot compete with in terms of age/beauty. Thrown in the fact that these other countries tended to prioritize traditional female roles, and the result is ‘unwanted’ women but happy coupled men in the West.

I’ve heard that in some cities in Ohio, the women outnumber the men 10:1. The women there are so bad, men have left them behind. If you’re a single guy looking for women, it’s a Vegas jackpot. But considering it’s Ohio, and considering it’s women, it’s probably the lowest denominator of women.

The reason is that men are not concerned with the wealth or ‘status’ of their female partner so they do not select based on that. Women, at least historically, have chosen based upon that. When seeking to marry, men pick women based on beauty, personality, and trustworthiness mainly. When dating, they will swap trustworthiness for sexual promiscuity (especially guys that are seeking to cheat).So, the issue is that these women focused on their careers – probably because that gave them personal satisfaction – rather than the qualities that males prefer. Further, the women falsely believed that their career success make them MORE attractive to the opposite sex so they are looking for males that are way out of their league and don’t consider men at their same level as that would be ‘settling’. I am a highly educated professional that has been successful in career and monetary terms. I am not seeking woman based on her status. That is simply not a consideration. I prefer a school teacher or other middle class profession so that I can spoil her. Making a women feel spoiled gives men happiness. It allows you to play traditional role of provider.

It’s “poor women” for being slightly indirectly affected in that they can’t get their ideal choice of mate. The modern drive to get women in universities and in high flying careers is having a dysgenic effect on the nation. Our smartest, most beautiful women end up being so high status that they can no longer find a suitable mate, since women like to marry up. So they don’t reproduce, even though they should.We should be pressuring women to focus on raising families first. They’re no reason why they can’t pursue a career later on in life when they won’t have to sacrifice their most fertile years. It would also increase the average wage for men due to a decrease in the labour force. Plus they wouldn’t have to spend money on other women to bring up their children in care centres.
It makes sense, doesn’t it?

Allowing for the killing off of the next generation of babies so that unstable immigration takes place. Implementing no-fault divorce rather than ‘go and get help with your marital-skills before we will even consider a divorce’ divorce, making cohabitation a financially better state of affairs, and much much more. It is common to see comments in the media celebrating the achievements of girls and women relative to their male counterparts. I cannot recall ever seeing a single comment celebrating the achievements of men and boys relative to females. The reason is clear – sex discrimination is outlawed against women but is entirely acceptable when directed against men. So why would anyone really be surprised at the outcome identified by this latest researach? This is proof, were such needed, that ‘positive’ discrimination is not positive at all – it is just discrimination, pure and simple.Moral: be careful what you wish for.

Stop discriminating against boys at school. We know from studies by the OECD, the University of Georgia, the London School of Economics, the German Institute of Labour, and the Norwegian School of Economics (to name just a few) that boys are discriminated against at school.There’s nothing airy fairy about this discrimination. It’s not a question of maybe the colour we associate with boys might give boys the impression school isn’t for them. No. When you send boys tests to be blind marked, they come back with higher marks than they do when they’re marked by the boys’ teachers. When a boy and girl display the same level of disruptive behaviour, the boy is punished harder.
The Norwegian study is particularly interesting, it controls to find out who is doing the discriminating against boys: women teachers with a strong belief in gender quotas.
Stop discriminating against boys in education and stop preferring girls, and the number of male and female graduates will equalise and the problem of there not being enough eligible men will sort itself out.
