Attended an annual music festival in the area today and as is typical, the hard core fans made up the front 2/3rds of the audience while the back 1/3rd were people who seemed to have nothing better to do, nor place to go.. Having arrived late and wanting to sit in the shade, I was stuck in the back 1/3rd audience section.

At one point there were three separate conversations going on around me and I found that I could not even hear the performer. Listening to this for about five minutes without abatement, I finally had had enough.

The conversation to the right was between two ladies, with a third joining in via mobile phone bluetooth device. This required the wearer to moderate the phone conversation with the person in front of her.

I leaned over and had the following conversation (Inspired by frustration I am certain):
Gregbo: Excuse me, do you know what time it is?
Lady: It’s 2:48
Gregbo: I don’t believe that is correct, would you check the time again?
Lady: (Looking at watch) No, it’s 2:48
Gregbo: No that is incorrect, it’s time for you to shut the f~~~ up and start listening to the performer.

Unfortunately had I slipped into Army NCO mode and my voice projected just a wee bit too far. The ladies acted indignant, but did indeed shut up. The conversation to the left immediately shut up as well. The guys behind me all moved 25 feet or more away to continue their conversation.

I enjoyed the remainder of the festival listening to the performers without anyone speaking within 10 feet of me. Sometimes your outside voice is a very good thing to unleash on the rude masses of the world. I would highly recommend trying it every now and again.

That must be why I enjoyed that AC/DC concert so much. The music was so damned loud that Brian Johnson went deaf and the fans ears hurt but at least there was NO way anyone could talk on a smartphone!
