What a drag Dashing. Hope that things improve for you soon. Think I read somewhere that it is illegal to run an orange light in this country, but if it was ages from going red, then chances are that they were singling you out. You know, a guy who I used to be mates with once told me that hammering up the role of the “dumb white guy” can get you out of paying fines. Just play it completely innocent. If you pour on that you had no idea what the rules were, they sometimes take it easy on you, particularly if you’re from another country to begin with.

Degrading, I know, but it can be effective. And granted, I’m no longer mates with that person, but he did know a number of people who were able to evade fines that way, so I think that that was one of his sounder pieces of advice.

I’m just gunna skip the country and deal with it from my homeland.

You’ll be missed man. You’re welcome back here any time. Conversely, I hope to make it to England someday. It’s the birthplace of my favourite musicians (The Who, Oasis), the land of some awesome monuments (Big Ben, London Bridge, Blackpool Tower), and, as odd as this may sound, the country that invented Pot Noodles, which are one of my favourite snacks!

    Noodles

I don’t know why, but I find them delicious. And the only place that I’m able to get them from is selected English shops that have them imported. They’re not a general item over here, as you may have noticed.

Hey Constantine, hows it going? Thanks man. I will be back in a year or so. Altho i honestly have no idea how things will turn out once i leave. I need to apply for a new visa and NZ residency from the Immigration NZ in London. Ah well, I will make it a day out.

Pot Noodles are great! Whats your fave flavour? I like beef and tomato. Very tasty. The noodles in the supermarkets here are revolting. Even the Asian ones. Pot Noodle is the tastiest ive ever come across, apart from the noodles i used to eat when i lived in Brunei. Me goreng and nasi goreng. Delicious! I’d do anything to go back to Brunei and visit my old home.

I think the police know me well by now haha so i cant mug them off.

I think you’d like UK. Weather is s~~~ but theres alot more to do over there. You can visit Germany, France etc which isnt far away.

I hope I can find a job when im back. It’s my biggest worry.

I didn’t mean every Kiwi as a whole, just the ones who have f~~~ed me over and been c~~~s. I’d say the same to anyone back home.

    Where bouts are you?

About half an hour away from you. I live outside the city thankfully. It’s always been a s~~~hole. Only been back to the city centre once since the quakes; saw things just over 6 years ago today that still give me f~~~ing nightmares…

Absolutely love them. They’re so unique, I’ve never found any other two-minute noodles like them. Beef & Tomato is awesome (‘specially in the king-size cups), but I also love the Chilli Beef and Sticky Rib flavours. At one point there was a Southern Chicken flavour, which I’m guessing was discontinued because I haven’t seen one since, which is a crying shame because it was really good.

Sucks! My friends and I used to joke about making it a default setting: when all else fails, “I no speak English”. But I’m sure that you’ll pull through!

That’s what I’m hoping. I’ve heard a lot of people talk about English weather but that doesn’t bother me, I like rain. I prefer winter over summer and have never liked intense heat. Summer is great if you’re a fervent outdoors person, but with a few exceptions such as fishing and bushwalking, I prefer the inside. And since I’m up here in Auckland, I also never see snow. The first time that I saw snow was during a Queenstown holiday back in 2011, so I’d love to live somewhere where it snows more regularly.

Declaring bankruptcy sounds less painful then dealing with this crap. Be careful dude, this could end you in jail.

    Good Luck to you.

Yeh it has always been s~~~ here. Been here since 2006. It’s a horror show now since the quakes.

I’ve never been able to like the curry flavoured one, cuz its so tasteless. Always had to add alot of salt to get any flavour. Theres a ‘Little Britain’ shop here in Christchurch i go to sometimes for UK food, but its a rip off. $5 for one pot noodle is a p~~~ take lol.

They sell Shredded Wheat in the UK section in New World here. It says £1.89 on the box yet they are selling it for about $12!!!!! No one is gunna buy it at such an upmarked price!!! They are dreaming.

I met a few Kiwis in London in 2011 when i went back for a bit, and they said they will never live in NZ again haha. I’m sure you will like it. We’ve got some good theme parks, good grub, and it’s worth visiting Camden Market and Soho for a laugh.

Selwyn-ish. Got off alright in the quakes though. Problem was getting back.

That’s the only place I’ve found that still sells Tango soda. Love that stuff. Same with Dr. Pepper, but you can get that at one of the asian marts down the road.
Now these pot noodles, I’m intrigued. anywhere else sells them besides the above? I lived off ramen noodles in my student days but still have a taste for them. Even though we called used to call them “Purina Student Chow”.

    Rolleston, Darfield?

Very unlikely. Haribo sweets are nice as well. We’ve got some funny fizzy drinks like Vimto, Tizer, Iron Bru etc.

First one’s close enough. I remember when that place was just paddocks and a pub a few years ago.

They’ve got a decent international section, but yeah, the damn prices… But then my brother now based in the UK complains about the price of NZ stuff, so there you go.

I know, mental how it all changes.
