Rather than MGTOW causing men to not marry, maybe the MGTOW movement is a reflection of three generations of men seeing what a s~~~ty deal it was and moving away from women altogether. The anti-marriage movement spawned an interest in men going their own way. Men going their own way isn’t causing men to turn away from women, perhaps.

I did hear that when a Men’s Rights splinter group calling themselves Men Going Their Own Way first formed in the early 00s, they were optimistically believing that if you just restore masculinity in men and femininity in women, they could fix society.

By the mid to late 00s, MGTOW looked at the facts and abandoned that idea when they came to the realisation that things were only going to continue to get worse for men as time goes by as the Men’s Rights movement has failed to do anything despite being around for decades, so they concluded that the best way to deal with institutions like marriage is to avoid getting married in the first place, also that living your lives pursuing women is a waste of time and money.

Meanwhile, there were some everyday men who have never even heard of MGTOW looked at either their situation or other men’s also concluded that women are more trouble than they are worth and also decided to drop out of the marriage game, some people call this the Sexodus.

By the early 2010s, MGTOW forums/channels started popping up and some of the Sexodus group noticed that MGTOW was in line with their own reasons for not getting married as well as providing reasons as to why s~~~ has gone so far south for men in the last few decades, thus MGTOW became the noisy online tip of the Sexodus iceburg.

Marriage: About as appealing as wood-chipper diving.

Notice how quick the topic went into men need to pay more money. Then calling men dead beat dads. Instead of really confronting the issue.

743 Roadmaster. EXACTLY man! My jaw drops and I shake my head in disgust at the stupidity of people, everytime I see an article about the low-birth rate, and the first thing they do is blame the economy.

The f~~~ing economy has nothing at all to do with birthrates. Its women and their poisonous attitudes and legal traps. Men said f~~~ this, I don’t need to be enslaved to child support or tolerating misandry daily. MGTOW FOR LIFE

So 75%+ of men and 85%+ of women still get married.

And I’ve stated this before, but that’s under the modern State sponsored definition of marriage.

Even more people are in long term cohabiting relationships. Historically that was, in fact, marriage. It is in my eyes still marriage, and in the eyes of the court and society, and perhaps even MGTOW who love using the word marriage so much, interchangeably with dating or sex.

The marriage rates should be completely inconsequential to MGTOW anyway. Women don’t just become bad in marriage. The culture makes them the way they are at all times. And courts will find ways to punish you at all times. If women were “okay” without marriage, then it means feminism is not a big deal and everything is peachy. I don’t have a problem with marriage specifically, my problem is the gynocentry of society at large, the injustices in the legal system, economically, in schools, everywhere really. If marriage was the only problem, then the marriage rates would probably be even lower. Because people would be perfectly happy without marriage but see how bad marriage is.

Instead, most marry because honestly speaking, if you’re at the point that you care enough about someone to have a serious long term relationship, marriage is in fact better. There are not very many men that can apparently live without any sort of relationship. Oh well, whatever. I will remain unmarried and free, it’s what I’ve chosen. Others can do whatever they want. I am so far beyond caring what the percentages are or what someone else is doing.
