The Orville classic style Star Trek with more snark. (It’s Good!)

I finally got around to watching the Orville, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it is a good series.

For those that do not know the Orville is a sci-fi series and parody of the Star Trek franchise by Seth MacFarlane.

But, while there is a lot of parody comedy, the story is played straight. It is a parody, but not slapstick.

Seth MacFarlane can act well. The cast and crew he has assembled for the Orville is top quality and it shows.

The acting, direction, script, plot, the comedy, music, specials effects are all solid. The ship designs are good. The comedy is solid, but not slapstick. They make fun of some of the more odd Star Trek concepts. Like why seatbelts are important and drinks on the bridge. The script is witty and the actors are on the ball.

Everything, including the music parodies Star Trek.

The Orville hits the right balance between sci-fi, humor, and social issues, with some nice sarcasm, like the original Star Trek series did. Seth MacFarlane and his crew know what they are doing, know where they are going, and it shows.

Yes. The series does delves into social issues, but the series does does so in interesting ways which do not insult the viewers. I have not seen such interesting ways in dealing with social issues since the original Star Trek series.

Not to spoil the series, but this series starts will taking a giant red pill and the series keeps on going.

Most of the negative reviews are because the reviewers were expecting Family Guy in space. The Orville is not this.

Overall, I give the series so far an 8 out of ten. With the episodes ranging from 7 to 9. Episodes 1 and 4 are a solid 9. Episode 2 and 3 depends on your opinion, but the subject matter was handled well.

So far, Seth MacFarlane has hit this one out of the ballpark. I believe the Orville might allow Seth MacCarlane to branch out into more dramatic projects in the future.

I really enjoy it. Much in the vein of the old Star Trek, there’s social issues put into the show, but it’s mostly done in a humorous underdone. For example, the episode where Lt. Bortus mates with his gay partner (all male species) and then the egg hatches and it turns out to be a girl, so the show has the debate about whether to have life altering surgery and make her a boy, or raise her as a girl and let her choose her own life.

While head and shoulders above Star Trek: Discovery, this show is still so blue pill it makes my head hurt. It’s a fun show that doesn’t quite reach Galaxy Quest level but episode 3 was enough to give a friendly reminder that Seth MacFarlane is very much part of the system and shamelessly pushes the global agenda.

Jackie: How do you write women so well?
Melvin Udall: I think of a man and I take away reason and accountability.

Well, the point of sci-fi is to present debate on matters. The original Star Trek series did this all the time. This was a plot that had a lead up from episode 1, 2, 3. And the Orville series is not insulting to the viewers.

While you might not agree with the subject matter, the series is presented in the right way to grow an audience.

The Orville is sort of in the same vein as Farscape. The series knows the jokes it is telling, it can take itself seriously, and the series is made with quality in mind.

I like the show, but not ready to give it as high a rating as you have. Although, I do see a lot of potential and I’m sure it will get better. Love the Seth Mac humor.

I didn’t care so much for the transgender episode. I got fed up with that stuff a long time ago. Still have high hopes for the show nonetheless.

The evil in women’s hearts leaves them no moral bounds as to inhibit them from descending to the lowest levels of darkness to acquire their self entitled desires.

I enjoyed the last two episodes… spoiler alert.

People are upset about the transgender episode but what was the message there? That circumcision is wrong and that changing the gender of a person who is too young to choose for themselves is also wrong.

Sure, they upheld the notion and changed the child’s gender anyway, but having done so, in the end nobody was happy about it. The overwhelming take-away was that respecting different cultures is important but that there are objective standards of ethics that are more important… we just aren’t civilized enough yet to recognize and observe those standards consistently.

I felt the issue was handled fairly and that the positive message of “let everyone be the greatest person they can be” was valid. This wasn surprisingly not a pro-woman position, but a pro individual one. Even in the tribunal scene where the crew attempted to use the super strong girl as an example of female excellence, the point was clearly made that her excellence was a result of environmental factors and that a male of her species would be superior to her.

In the most recent episode, the take away was that even the most violent dictator can be seen not as merely an evil person, but as a person with limited scope of understanding and control attempting to do what is best for their people given the options that they have. When the “a-ha” moment came, even the dictator was shown to have a change of heart and he was not demonized and murdered for his previous actions.

The Orville brings out the complexities of our modern problems and, I believe, examines them fairly… which is unusual in these times.

I’m enjoying it more than Star Trek Discovery at the moment. I like it’s more comical less serious vibe, i’ll see how the first season plays out it’s one i’ll continue to watch unlike Inhumans.

He’s a beta cuck. He gets cheated on, leaves her, but in the end allows his ex to serve on the ship as his 2nd in command. He’s a beta and his uniform is appropriately blue.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

The only thing good about ST:D is the visuals. It’s movie quality on most stuff. Everything else is blah. I watched it at 2x speed so I didn’t have to listen to dialog. Not gonna be a fan. I just want to watch starship porn.

I believe the Orville is still finding its ‘legs’, but the show is off to a good start in quality.

That is what is drawing me to Orville. Seth MacFarlane and those with him want to do a good sci-fi series. They are not half-assing this series. It is good and it delves into subject matter in a “let the viewer decide” approach which is rare in present day TV series.

Currently enjoying both Orville and Discovery at present, the special effects, props, and presentation of Discovery are pretty darn good and the topical content is refreshingly darker as well, I am however disappointed with the “you go girl” character assignments and the subliminal social commentary although to be fair Star Trek always did this to some extent.

I must hunt down the episodes I missed for Scott Bakula’s Enterprise Series

TNG episode, “Ensign Ro” is when this started. But, the worst examples were in Star Trek Voyager, especially after the 7 of 9 character was added to the cast.

I have not watched Discovery. I have watched the other Star Trek series. Except for a handful or episodes, I do not like Voyager. I am a fan of the rest of the Star Trek series.

I have to admit, I almost got a starship porn boner, when the Captain did that spiel in episode 2, and the Klingon said “Here it comes, their lie” and the Captain says “we come in peace”. And the Klingon says “They Lie. They do not.”

And then unleashes a volley so fierce that it causes the Starfleet ship to start listing.

I can kind of see the Klingon point of view. I am getting an EU-pussy vibe off of the Federation in ST:D and I was sort of rooting for the Klingons in that battle. Just like I would if the Russians invaded Germany and deposed that globalist c~~~ Angela Merkel.

All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart-R'as al Ghul.
