Looked at off-grid topic on and off for years. Seen a lot of people living in tiny homes and say converted Ford Transits. Giving thought to going the canal boat route myself. Some people have said you only need like £20 a week to live. I did some matched betting in the past. Mostly just extracted the starter offers. I could see myself hedging a bet or two a day for 20 minutes for steady cash trickle. Like odd £5 , £10 – steady little earner. Currently building my crypto portfolio for passive income, for if it ever does run again. There’s companies that will give you dividends for HODL’ing with them now. They work on running a gambling site, loans, Tron/TRX also pays out for voting super-representatives now. Trying to figure out where else I’d fork profit to – if it does run. Looking into REIT’s, renting out a small traditional flat to someone, peer to peer lending. Stocks will come down hard I think. I’d do a lot of firewood foraging, hunting, fishing myself too to keep costs down / part of the lifestyle. You’d have the option of crawdad, fishing, rabbit, pigeon shooting/catapulting. Could grow come herbs, small veg on your rooftop or like a plastic conservatory at the end of your boat. Seen some people drag a small dingy behind them and grow veg in it too. Not sure if they’re supposed to be allowed to do that. Lots of green scenery. Slow pace like I like it. Can always get up and F.O. to another spot if your neighbours aren’t to your liking.

I keep being drawn to peoples uploads online. Seems like a decent life. Not saying there aren’t cons as well either. One thing for me to consider is I’d be away from family – my folks are getting on now. The UK has a fair history of canals but we never had them as it happens where I’m from. We had wagonways and underground tunnels, and a big river opening out to sea… So we missed the canal hype. Might rent one for a week next year. See how I like it.

Not familiar with all the UK-related stuff you’ve mentioned, but hope it’ll work out.

We just don't realize life's most significant events while they're happening. Back then, I thought, "Well, there'll be other days". I didn't realize that that was the only day. - "Moonlight" Graham

This guy has a nice VBlog on canal boat living.

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning; it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

You have to hand it to you UK guys. Sharp as a tack about some things. Keep up the investment portfolio, and Keep to your goals and watch out for pitfalls.

Nothing is sweeter then watching other suffer while you chill it out in a warm safe and comfortable place.

You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.
