Anonymous6I’m sure everybody here has seen the lion king at least once, its one of the few disney films that doesn’t have any noticeable feminist undertones, at least in my opinion. Some of the characters you could even call MGTOW.
The first ones that come to mind would be Timon and Pumbaa. in the film they live in their own little patch of jungle paradise without interacting with the outside world, they have essentially gone their own way. in the prequel (sort of), the lion king 1/2 (one of the direct to home media sequels actually worth watching) we see how timon and pumbaa ended up together. timon was always kind of an outcast in his colony and was looked down upon for not being like every other meerkat. so what did he do? he went his own way and later met pumbaa. although i wish the film would have explain pumbaa’s backstory as well as timon’s it is still a good thing they met each other when they did. so i would consider timon and pumbaa to be mgtow.
Simba could also be considered mgtow to a certain degree, or at the very least red pill. he didn’t go his own way out of personal choice however but because he had no other option. when scar falsely accused him of killing his father, he fled the pride lands and was “ghosted” out of the pride lands when scar and the hyenas took over. when timon and pumbaa discovered simba half-dead in the desert they took him under his wing, where they taught him about hakuna matata and in a way by default, helped him leave his old life behind and go his own way. living with timon and pumbaa helped turn simba from a beta to an alpha. his relationship with nala may rule him out form being a red pill character but even then his main goal after meeting nala after years and years wasn’t to win nala’s heart but to take back what was his, that of course being the pride lands. simba was awakened because he discovered that the pride lands wasn’t the utopia that he thought it was when he was a cub, but a place where even your own family can turn on you.
The takeover of scar and the hyenas could be interpreted as the result of how societies can crumble when feminism is allowed to make its presence known. after all, shenzi, the de facto leader of the hyenas was female. scar (one of the greatest disney villains in history) could be seen as a beta male because he let the hyenas run wild and eat all the game in the pride lands without any concern for his fellow lion.
so yeah this is something i have been thinking about for a while and yeah i know disney is an evil feminist company but the lion king might be their only film that could be interpreted as red pill or even mgtow in some aspects. i’ll leave you guys to decide whether you agree or disagree with me.
Lion king was the movie i missed as a kid. Most of the movies i watched were the VHS tapes my father bought when i was young (like toy story 1 and 2, shrek, home alone 1, 2 etc).
Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.
I agree with you about The Lion King having MGTOW characters, but I don’t agree that it’s the only movie. What about Baloo the Bear in The Jungle Book? He sang a song about The Bear Necessities, living freely and at the end he called a village girl trouble to Mowgli and tried to get him to stay away from her.
