I remember seeing this along time ago when I was younger but forgot about it until another thread showed up today talking about friends and relationships and how they interact with each other. The premise is simple, men have only one ladder that they put women on and rate and they only get to know the woman because they want to have sex with her.

Females on the other hand have two ladders, one for Chad and all the men she is having sex with and one for men she puts into the friend zone and rates each man on this ladder depending on what they bring to the table. This is a great read and goes in depth if you have the time it is worth reading. Women are users – if she doesn’t want sex or money from you she’ll keep you around a ‘friend’ so she can use you when she needs a ride or to help her move.

Most women read this and say something like, “Well I’m not the average woman because..blah…blah…not true…blah blah…my boyfriend/lover/husband/masseuse was poor…blah…blah.”

If you thought something like this you are very likely the average woman. If you read it and went “Hmmm…” and then you went back to doing physics, then you have a case.

Interesting theory, but I think it’s a bit too simplistic. A couple reasons why…

I don’t believe men’s ladder’s are just about sex. That’s a huge part of it, but it’s also about gaining a sense of worth. A woman would rank higher on my ladder the more I want to have sex with her, but also the better I believe I’ll think of myself. Is she in demand, will she impress others, is she nice to look at, does she compliment me, want to spend time with me, etc. All that said though, none of those things have much value if you don’t want to have sex with her.

I think the supposed women’s ‘real ladder’ is also not just about sex. Women’s central desire is not like a man (to know he has what it takes) but to be considered beautiful and desired. That’s fulfilled by the affections of a man with wealth, good lucks, rule breakers, etc. As well, I don’t think it means much if she doesn’t want to have sex with him too.

As far as the friend ladder, I think of it more as the resource ladder. A man isn’t on this ladder if he has no resources to offer her. That could be financial, his time and effort, or just to boost her self confidence. She will call this friends, but it is only a friendship as long as you are of use to her.

I also think that a man is always on both ladders, and she evaluates him on both his ability as a resource and for sex/esteem. A man high on resource but low on sex/esteem. A man low on resource but high on sex/esteem is Chad, the guy she will cheat on you with. A man who’s low on both is the guy she wants eliminated from the population. The guy who is high on both is marriage material. Of course, as time goes by, she will lower her requirements and settle. She will also realize that his sex/esteem value is decreasing, and the law allows her to lock in his resource while acquiring another man for sex/esteem.

Why do men not have a second resource/friend ladder? Because we are self sufficient and provide our own resources. Women have no value as a resource. This is why a man does not care about her career or how smart she is. It has no value to him and only serves to get in the way.
