Astroturf-funded state measures are the wave of the near future. The formula: Pick a “blue” state; throw in a ton of money from New York City and Silicon Valley; hire the best propagandists money can buy; rely on media allies to amplify the signal and demonize gun owners; spook the useful idiot herd; and steamroll over grassroots volunteers who enjoy neither the money, the media savvy, the contacts nor the reach.

    Lather, rinse, repeat.

That’s what happened in California. Proposition 63 passed:

The initiative outlaws the possession of ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds, requires background checks for people buying bullets, makes it a crime not to report lost or stolen guns, and provides a process for taking guns from people upon their conviction for a felony.

Unsurprisingly, Initiative 1491 on “Extreme Risk Protection Orders” passed easily in Washington State. Naturally, the gun-grabbers and their media cheerleaders billed it as a “safety measure.” Bearing Arms added some needed perspective:

The initiative also defines “family” and “household members” vaguely, allowing roommates from up to a year prior to seek an ERPO. (see crazy ex-girl/boyfriend) Essentially, a person’s gun rights would disappear merely on the say-so of someone else.

    Another reason not to cohabitate!

lol my revolver holds 10 rounds.

    still legal!

but around here I am vastly out gunned.

    Proud S&W 617 owner here.

I bought it after the c~~~ kicked my door to s~~~ and tried to break in. I had to buy a new door. The door I bought was almost solid metal with 6 inch screws holding it into the frame.

My revolver is the same frame as .357 so it looks scary as fuk. 10 .22 hollow point bullets may not sound like much…but ask the ER surgeon who has to fish them all out and fix the wound tracks. No recoil = excellent gun control.

Excellent choice—it is a K-frame so it is the same as a 19 or a 66, that gives it pretty good heft for the round it fires. Although I must confess I don’t get the need for the extended barrel lug similar to the 686. I have a 629 classic with that feature and it does help with the recoil but then it is a 44 mag.

Never let anyone tell you a .22 isn’t deadly, especially a hollow point and placed in the right place on the target. I like to remind folks that Kennedy’s brother was killed with a .22 and Reagan almost was killed by a .22. I hand load ammo and I can tell you often muzzle velocity and depth of penetration are more important than just a messy surface wound. I have a S&W 25-7 chambered for .45 colt and I DO NOT use hollow points, rather I use solid hard cast bullets (255 grain) and with the load I give them the muzzle velocity is just under 1000. Do the math. Deep penetration and the target takes all the foot-pounds—no spreading out. You get hit its over.

omg I go to the range with my 617 and everyone wants to have a go. These dudes bring their 9s and 380s and spend $100 on ammo. I think I spend 6 cents a round. lol

Imagine firing 525 9mm rounds…I spend $30 for a big brick. I don’t think you can fire 500 9mm rounds yer arm would fall off. I watched some clown bring a Desert Eagle .50 caliber to a range, he shot 3 clips and was done, he hurt too much. The chick he brought tried a round and about fell over and his buddies shot off a couple. then they moved on. oooo big gun big man! big noise big whoop.

s~~~, I was working on 75 meter accuracy with a 6 inch barrel plink gun. after 50 rounds I had the sight dialed in, after 300 I could reliably hit the 4 inch bull on my paper, as I approached 500 rounds, I was hitting center and first inner ring 8/10 times. Awesome afternoon.

big lug is to keep the barrel down. It is tempting to raise the nose in anticipation of a bigger round and recoil that you expect.

I was wondering what size barrel you have. Excellent shooting! I know manufacture retail on a 617 is a little over $800 but that is nonsense. I’ve seen them for as little $600. I hope you got a good deal on yours. I assume you have mastered the art of double action shooting–it sounds like it from you hits. I know its hard to learn but once you get it down it will save your life. I was taught many many years ago by a master shooter who told me that mastery of that technique is the difference between a “pistolaro” (his term) and a professional.

    Good for you man!

This will break your heart though. I picked up an 8 shot .22, stainless, H&R top-break double action in perfect condition–$200.00 I didn’t keep it—wish I had but I flipped it within a month for $275.00.

Mosab Ayoob lives just outside of my town and I’ve seen him once at the local gun shop–he is pals with the owner. I didn’t speak to him and I’m not on real good terms with the owner since I “dared” to be critical of Glocks—which is 75% of what he carries. I don’t think Ayoob does the wheel-gun thing at all–he is strictly auto-load. I have some auto-loaders I really like but If my life is at stake–wheel gun every time. I don’t need to spray and pray.
