I’ve seen too many MGTOW swap their prison of serving women to a different prison of trying to become rich. Both these things are prisons. You don’t need to become rich to be happy or free. You don’t need as much money as you think.

Inequality in the west is mostly an ILLUSION created by the same controlling structures that create the illusion of happiness being linked to women.
The way you should think about money is in terms of what FUNCTIONALITY it can provide you. Let me illustrate:

Bill Gates has a million times more money than me. But he is not a million times better off than me because:
Bill Gates sleeps in a bed. (I have a bed too).
Bill Gates takes a shower. (I have a shower too)
Bill Gate wears clothes. (I have clothes too)
Bill Gates has a cellphone. (I have a cellphone too)
Bill Gates has a refrigerator. (I have a refrigerator too)
Bill Gates lifespan will likely not be significantly longer than yours.

What does Bill Gates really have that I don’t? What can he really do that I can’t? NOT VERY MUCH. Whatever it is, he is not a million times better off than me is he?

But the ILLUSION of inequality is created deliberately to make you chase money, just as the the illusion of women is created to make you chase women. Don’t fall into these psychological prisons.

The best way to live is just to strive for what you need and spend the rest of your time ENJOYING YOURSELF.

YOU are the prize, there is no toy you can buy that is more entertaining than your own mind. Spend time developing THAT.

You are already rich enough right now if you don’t live in poverty. How many great works of literature, art, music, film have you yet to discover? And it is all available at your fingertips. How much time have you spent exploring and discovering the wonders of nature? Yet it is all around you. People who think they need lots of money to be happy are just a different kind of cuck.

MGTOW is not a movement, it is a way of life.

I chase more wealth because it’s FUN. I enjoy making money. Business is in my blood. I enjoy business over any other pastime. I have been a businessman since I was a kid. That is MY reason.

I understand that it may not be for everyone. I actually think it is not suited for everyone. Most people will not be happy doing what I do.

For me if I earn enough to:
    1. Pay my bills. Rent, utilities, insurance, food, etc.
    2. Save for retirement
    3. Save for rainy day/emergency
    4. Have a little fun doing the few things I like to do.
    In this order.
    Then I earn/have enough.

You are correct BMW. OTOH always worried if you are gonna make rent kinda sucks.

    The above list aside.
I live in a clean modest space to myself, have plenty to eat, can get a clean glass of water whenever I want.
Compared to most in this world I am beyond rich.

A little poignant “BMW” but spot on. My day job is as a G.P.
As I am being gouged child support from a system that has allowed parental alienation
of my children I lost all interest in chasing the almighty dollar.
I consider this a blessing in disguise- everything in “BMW”‘s OP is true.
What is interesting, is that my patients notice me not being a “Busy G.P.” and
note the extended time I can give problems – more time to think and plan at
the consultation level. No burn out is possible. Yet, I have been debt free for 8 years now.
In fact, my savings level is increasing, all the boy toys are being appreciated (as I now have
the time to). Meanwhile, my ex wife is busting her gut paying exorbitant car lease fees and
private school fees as an ego trip.
I can’t guarantee that once the CSA is a memory I might ramp up the practice a little. For retirement money
    of course.

Afinogyny.. from the Greek Afino {to abandon/ to set down/ to leave /to allow/ to let } + Gyny {Women} MGHOW’s philosophy to not engage women without “hating them”. Narcorca =Narcissistic Orca typically spouting to a bathroom mirror taking an arms length selfie ; Wallinate describes post wall females whose SMV is terminally negligible New Years resolution "To not make women happy" . Instadestitue: yet another Neologism for Men that cohabit with women that decide to pull the handle of intervention orders.

    good post.
    money is to an extent,
    power.
how much do you want vs. how much do you need?
a minimalistic lifestyle allows me to spend less,
    while enjoying more.
i eat sparingly during the week,
so i can grill on the weekends.
    it keeps me thin,
    therefore less health problems.
the clothes i wear are durable,
    and last for years.
i fix what i can myself,
and as a last resort pay to have it done.
    having learned some humility,
i don’t care to offend anyone.
also i am immune from most shame and offences.
    .
    it’s ALL a win .
it’s the perspective you have on things which changes it all.
    .
when you can’t change the picture,
    you CAN re-frame it.
    .
taking control wherever possible in my life empowers me.
surrendering when i must teaches me.
    .
    it’s all psychological.

My brother, I love money. Not for material things, as I just use what I need to get by, but for the security knowing that I have F~~~ YOU money. No boss. No corporate ladder. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE I know works for someone and they mostly hate it. My hours are my own. There are some disadvantages, but they are mostly social.

    Why I love money? Well…

Yep, work/life balance is what its all about for me. I dont have a high income, but I deliberately chose a less stressful job so i could enjoy my life outside of work more. That may mean a little less pay but it means once i leave work i can concentrate on the things i do love like music, sports etc. 🙂

Spending 80 billion dollars outside of the context of business is often pure waste.

Fair enough, as long as it doesn’t bring stress, then there’s nothing wrong with having money as a motivation. As long as its not your only motivation.

There is some healthy stress, similar to when you stress your muscles at the gym when you want them to grow. It’s not stressful to the point where I don’t enjoy it.

It is also not my only motivation. It allows me to pursue other things which are interesting to me or have some meaning to me.

Bill Gates has the option of staying in bed all day and watching TV without worrying about how he’s going to pay his bills. I don’t. I have to get out of bed and go to work…or else I’m homeless.

I’m working to gain money so I can have more options! I’m not trying to buy happiness. If I’m doomed to be miserable, I’m going to be miserable in an environment that’s comfortable. I’m going to have my own land, my own McMansion, and a few sports cars. I’m going to leave this cheap apartment (and my noisy neighbors) behind.

"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)

For me it’s not about money at all, is about peace, far away from people.

My land, my eden heaven, my own personal hell, all green, full of birds, rabbits and turtles.

    I love turtles.

But with this s~~~ty jobs here in Spain, I’m malin 50-55 thousands a year. That sucks, in Ireland I wold be making 100 thousands.

I want to retire at 50, that’s the plan.

To those following me, be careful, I just farted. Men those beans are killers.

In the age where even among the poorer classes of society in the west meet their basic needs, the pursuit of wealth for it’s own sake is an illusion.

Not for everyone, of course, but most people.

What is more important to me is control of my own mentality, and I believe that will create the down stream effects that I’m looking for.

What do you need? A bigger television? A nicer car? They are stimulating, to be sure, but they all lose their luster eventually. Then you need another fix.
