The creep, creep of feminism in games (Gears of War 4)

I have started to notice how more and more games are starting to be filled with female characters from main characters to NPCs. Games have always had loads of female characters in them despite what that t~~~ Sarkesian says (can’t be bothered to spell check her name), but it is getting to the point where it is becoming feminist tickboxing

I love the first 3 Gears of War games as they are just testosterone filled, violent fun but 4 has gone a bit Star Wars Feminist Awakens. There is a new female character in the 4 person squad you go around with(Kait) and like with SW, there are numerous times when she comes out with “I can look after myself” when the male characters play white knight. She can fix everything and usually comes up with all the answers to any problems the team faces – again predictable Mary Sue feminist traits. This is so at odds with the first three games where there was a balance between all 4 characters with the leader, fixer, muscle and thoughtful member of the group – she is obviously all 4 in one.

there is also a main female leader of this camp who is a “badass” and cuts up one of the main villains with a knife before getting bested…a predictable scene and she loses the fight but loses no face as she “matches up” to the villain who is about 10 foot tall and a hulking monster (she is about 4 foot and skinny)

from the awful ending it looks like the rest of the trilogy will centre around Kait so a franchise made famous for it’s jacked up, dude-bro attitude and mindless violence is on the road to feminism. It is a shame because the gameplay is excellent but the constant drip feed of feminist s~~~ p~~~es me off

The issue is more or less that Gear is a linear shooter. There’s probably no way to critisise the character or even kill her off, like you’d expect from a more dynamic BioWare RPG. The developers dictate what kind of agency you have. The solution is simple: don’t buy Gears V (at full price).

Alien Isolation, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Phantasy Star, Metroid, all of them are bad asses games, all of them have a female as the main character (but not all RE have). There is no problem, the story is about a F~~~ING FEMALE, before feminism, before everything else, they just have wrote a good story with a female character, that’s fine, nothing against it. Those games are epic, but the problem when things get out of control.

Imagine if they decide to replace Mario with Maria ? That would make a sense to you ? Is like replace Lara in Tomb Raider for a random dude, is something that can’t be like that.

Feminists just don’t get it, for them, doesn’t matter a s~~~, only thing that matters is females with power, men dying, female supremacy and so on. Don’t matter if they have to destroy every game masterpiece, they just do it.

That why I keep saying that feminism, isn’t about women, is about bitching.

It is truly f~~~in’ astounding to me, how they scream like banshees & vile harpies spewing hatred toward us men & saying they don’t need us, blah blah blah, and YET, they continue their insatiable death march into our “domains” that they couldn’t care less about, other than being hell bent on destroying ANYTHING we enjoy.

Haven’t they figured this s~~~ out by now? How freaking dense are these people? Do they really think their “target” audience wants to buy & play games that are like this? Do they really think us men that are gamers find that fun & entertaining?

I am no marketing guru, but it would seem that common sense would be to at least try to….

My bad, I trailed off there with expecting our modern society to be, modern & civilized.

I second that and wholeheartedly agree. I don’t think it’s the game developers, I think it’s the corporate douchebags trying to push this s~~~. Because they take those hack articles written on tumblr and Kotaku like they mean something. The triple A game industry has become more or less political. They like certain words like diversity, dynamic, inclusive, ect. It’s a checkmark on a sheet that they fill out. Games aren’t made anymore, they’re churned out on an assembly line of focus testing and buzzwords.

I noticed it right away in Call of Duty Black Ops 3. I started the online campaign with a friend. We didn’t expect much for originality and were making jokes about the clique characters. We both noticed right away a female NPC trying to assert dominance over the squad complete with comments alluding that women know how to do everything better. Naturally the male NPCs just got out of her way and did as they were told. I didn’t have much interest in the campaign after that.

Ha, how about The Rise of the Tomb Raider – Cold Darkness…. Apparently a Soviet installation has a chemical turning men, but only men, into zombies. Due to their level of testosterone. So as Lara, you run around saving women from cages, and shooting men in the head. You are supported by another female in a chopper pointing out items and women to save. The men zombies are all ravening lunatics that run around trying to eat your brains, while your female helper gives intricate technical advice on how to shut down individual plants. Most women I’ve known can barely operate a blender. If this DLC doesn’t qualify as sexist, I don’t know what does. Feminist creep indeed. And that dumb bitch in Gears of War always takes my cover so I end up in the wide open getting shot at, just like a woman to throw their men to the wolves.

Really the only thing I ever liked about Tomb Raider was the sex appeal of Lara, the rest of it I could’ve and could care less about.

There was a YouTuber I was watching the other day (can’t recall the name), but he was talking about how all these feminists types want a Legend of Zelda game with a female Link. He then proceeded to explain that it’s smarter to make a SIMILAR game, but use a female lead, than to just change the game itself, citing Nate Drake from Uncharted as an example of how a studio basically took the idea of Tomb Raider but used a guy to their success.

I mean, the thing is Nintendo wouldn’t even HAVE to do that; they could make a Sheik/Zelda spin-off, an Impa spin-off, etc. So many other characters to use. And yes, the alternate game theory is still valid, too.

Exactly what I’ve said, but more in reference to comics than video games. It’s not about having female leads in games that can stand on their own merits, it’s about power. It’s about using a franchise that already has a fan base and trying to subvert those fans to your social agenda while taking out their role models, favorite characters, etc.

That’s exactly my point. In several situations, female characters make a great change on game environment, specially child ones. I can’t recall the name of child on RE 2, and Ashley from RE 4, don’t having a gun, being surrounded by zombies, that’s something that make some unique situations in the game. But better to do a spin off, make another game using a very similar gameplay, and that will be ok, but don’t ruin the main story.

I never read an HQ, but just for curiosity, what kind of bulls~~~ feminists made the creators do ?

You talking comics? If you are, the long and short of it is Marvel’s gone full SJW. Most of it is killing off or “retiring” straight white male characters to make room for female versions. Iron Man, Thor, and Wolverine have all been replaced already. They made Spider-Woman pregnant so they could attempt to appeal to all the dependas out there. They’ve blatantly killed off or replaced a number of characters just to work in people of other races. There’s probably more, but I stopped reading some time back. Mostly have to stick to the old stuff or to creator-owned comics. By the way, the Big Two (Marvel and DC) also goes out of their way to give the villains conservative points of view, like that we need secure, enforced borders, and tried to play this off like it’s a bad thing.

The worst part is that you can tell it’s just because the writers are talentless hacks who understand nothing about nuance and just want a platform to spew their SJW bulls~~~ dogma. Their characters are just demographic checkboxes, no real substance. Here’s just an example of the absolute tripe, the complete horses~~~ that passes as “groundbreaking” and “revolutionary” in comics today:
