I used to work with an old dude that moved here from out west who was 3/4 Indian. His tribe referred to the tribes in my area of New England as “Monigs” because they are “mo n~~~~ than indian.” When the first casino was being built near me town records from hundreds of years ago were being found with spots of white out and written over as people were altering records and copying them to fake tribal lineage because tribal members get stipends just for being part of the tribe. So long as you could prove your lineage contained a certain percentage tribal blood, free money for life was yours. The town hall eventually ended up being a little more defensive of its documents and the tribe ended up closing itself off to new “members” once it become undeniable what was going on.

In regards to Elizabeth Warren, I’d be willing to bet that most of those people faking lineage had more Indian blood than her.
