They do tax the hell out of it. It’s called “support payments”. The state takes a cut.

And how do we know it’s a tax? Because debtors prison is unconstitutional, but that gets ignored for non-payment of taxes. And millions of men are in prison for being unable to pay their assessed support payments. Note the “assessed”. Taxes are assessed.
