Summary of the Video: Super Mario Odyssey will bring back the exploration of Mario 64. The linearity of Galaxy and 3D World is over. Nintendo is done re-hashing the original formula. They’re done making 3D games that feel like old 2D NES games. They’re making a new game that truly feels 3D.

Games like that were once very common. Remember Mario 64? Remember Mario Sunshine? Remember DK64? Remember Banjo-Kazooie? Modern 3D platformers don’t have the same soul because they try to “feel like 2D games”. I was glad when 2D platformers came back in the late 2000s … but now the market is oversaturated with them again. It’s like the SNES era all over again. It’s time for Mario to get a “sandbox experience”. That’s what Mario Odyssey is all about. The creators have literally used the phrase “sandbox experience”.

Additionally, the game appears to have a ton of new characters. This is good because Mario has been re-using old characters too much lately. The folks at Nintendo are going all-out with the weirdness this time. They get it. A good Mario game should feel like an acid trip.

Of course, Bowser still kidnaps Peach. This is good. It means that Gamergate has won at least a little bit.

    MAKE MARIO GREAT AGAIN!
