Starbucks may have appeased progressives with its social-justice workshops and open-bathroom policy, but such moves have failed to caffeinate the company’s bottom line.

The coffee giant’s stock took a tumble Wednesday after CEO Kevin Johnsonannounced that Starbucks would close 150 company-owned stores next year instead of the expected 50, with an emphasis on underperforming shops in densely populated urban areas, and lowered growth projections.

I’m ashamed to say that there were a few of times I have given Starbuks money. They run mini-stores at the VA. Perhaps once or twice in an Airport.

I work in marketing… Just my 2 cents.

I don’t think they needed to shut down for an entire day. The revenue loss made no sense. They could’ve had mandatory online sessions or after work paid training… You can’t tell me losing money to make my employees better is a good thing. There should’ve been a strategic investment position with a marketable return here.

Employees who complete the training get a small bonus or something like that. It’s an incentive for them and the company builds customer loyalty.

Cutting off a toe to spite your foot means you’re gonna be limping…

They are just going to close the outlets where there was going to be a problem for their new rule. Nothing to see here, folks, just business as usual. I’m waiting for Domino’s drivers to start getting robbed and killed with THEIR new policy. Korporate Amerika does not care about people.

Not to get overly technical, but Starbucks had a market correction based on an inflated price to earnings ratio. Their insane liberal politics will lead to further closings and depressed earnings, which in turn, will lead to lower stock values. Can’t wait for the cachet the liberals seem to think they have slip away, which will accelerate things.
