…and how disappointed I was with his “prequel” Trilogy. Oh well, I just choose to remember the good stuff.

To be fair, while casting was the issue with Ep 01, Anakin was cast to young (that and Jar Jar), the main issues for Ep 02 and Ep 03 were editing.

The main complaint with Ep 02 was the relationship between Anakin and Padme felt rushed. The problem is that there was about fifteen minutes of film (most of which was finished), between Anakin and Padme on Naboo (and one scene later on, after they were captured) that made their relationship work and not feel rushed. Unfortunately those scenes were cut to make room for more CGI troopers and droids fighting.

For time, they could have cut half the time of the ship chase scene between Jango and Obiwan, while also cutting a few minutes find battle to find the time to include the scenes.

Still, these scenes are included in various released DVD and Blu-Ray copies of Star Wars Ep 02. I sure if most of you went and watched those scenes that you would change you mind and believe that Ep 02 would have been a much better movie if those scenes has been included into the film.

There is a rumored four hour version of Ep 03 we may never see.

Personally, I like Ep 02, if the edited scenes I mentioned above count for Ep 02, I love the movie, right up there with Empire Strikes Back. For example, one plotline I loved in how the actors handled it was the plotline of Anakin finding his mother, killing the sand people, his confession to Padme, to his mother’s funeral, while tragedy in a number of ways, was very well handled.

I am okay with Ep 01. It is what it is.

They really drop the ball in a number of ways in Ep 03, especially with Padme. The plot for Anakin falling to the dark side almost worked, the problem feels like an editing issue, it feels like there are a few key scenes between Anakin and Palpatine were cut out of the final film.

Now, on Willow. That was likely the best use of little people in a film ever. The film was respectful while also presenting a really good fantasy story.
