Well I saw it last night. It messed with my mind so much I rode through a red light on the way home then stayed up drinking. I don’t know what to make of it.

Good points – perfectly captures the Star Wars universe, particularly the universe of the first 3 movies.

Well paced, well made, exciting, exhilirating etc.

Acting was good, great to see former stars. Droids used to very nice effect.

Bad points – obvious anti-white-patriarchy agenda.

    Totally rehashed story

No attempt to build suspense – never for a moment did it look like there was any serious danger or their ‘make it up as you go’ nonsense attack on the First Order would do anything other than succeed (very different to the Yavin and Endor battles, and the ending of Episode I for that matter).

    General silliness throughout.

WTF was that last shot? Helicopter pan of them standing there – probably looked good on paper, but complete fail imo.

    My $0.02.

I saw it last night. I agree with you. It was predictable. The assault on the star killer had all of 5 minutes planning. 15 minutes to charge. 20 minutes later, 5 minutes to charge. No wow factor for special effects. Better than the prequels but how could it not be?

Where did those 2 gangs come from on Solo’s ship?

I bathe in the tears of single moms.

One of the movie bloggers I follow did a 20+ minute video revealing all the spoilers. (I won’t post a link, because she’s a girl and outspoken feminist. Her YouTube channel is called “Beyond the Trailer.”) It warned me off from trundling down to the theater. I don’t like theaters anyway, so no grief there.

I’m awaiting the time with patience until its DVD shows up at RedBox or my public library. None of my money for Disney!

Just another example of bread and circus’ IMHO.
Sadly, this is pretty much what I expected.
Instead of breathing new life into an icon that could have entertained us for a few more decades, they chose to insult , degrade, and whore out the concept and age old story. Dragging it ignominiously towards a forgetful end.

There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it
