Star Wars' Female Stormtrooper

I’m in the middle of watching this Comic-Con video about Star Wars: Episode VII.

I was mostly interested in Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren character (mostly because I love the Dark Side and Sith as characters), but he hardly gets a word in compared to the chick who’s playing the female Stormtrooper.  Not only that, but she audibly gets far more applause than Driver does. Something about that just upsets me.  That, and of course the chick has to have her hair cut like a dude, and she has to be the tallest of the group (she HAS to be wearing heels), and she HAS to bring up being the “first female Stormtrooper and it’s not about her looks” or whatever.

See for yourself and get annoyed.  Hopefully her character is taken out in Ep. 7.

just standard for the current times we live in. She will be a prominent character throughout the whole new trilogy for sure and although I will go and see the film(who won’t), I am expecting a load of PC bollocks from start to finish

Not going to bother seeing it. Star Wars lost me at Ewoks. And it’s all been downhill from there. And not only did they produce mediocre dross after Empire, they had to go back and ruin the original movies too. Digitally editing Greedo to make him shoot first? F~~~ that noise.

At this point I wouldn’t put anything past them, especially since it’s all Disney now, and I ain’t going to pay money to see it.

Sorry this time I have to disagree with you, that 6’3″ chick is awesome!

Probably what’s flawed is the need to have female  warrior in Star Wars to appease feminists, that would be f~~~ed up and they probably did it for this reason but if the idea came out as pure credible character creativity then I would support that (because in this case she does fit a female warrior role)

As a female warrior character she is actually credible due to her size, she’s not one of those pretty chick warriors which are full of s~~~, let’s remember that her GOT character was created by George R.R. Martin and GOT is absolutely manly, do you even watch GOT bro? Her character is so well-written, her story is so believable: she’s a big ugly chick who couldn’t be raised as future marriage material for her dimensions, she was bullied and laughed at, became bitter and realized that because of her size she was manly and being a warrior suited her. And I think in George R.R. Martin’s world, he actually writes characters with the purpose of making things interesting instead of trying to appease feminists or some s~~~ like that.

Also I’m all about the actors, the fact that they’re casting this chick and Oscar Isaac is already confirming it will be great.

 

Let’s not take things to an extreme or we’ll end up looking like ridiculous feminists OK?

What should we do? Not acknowledged that the next Star Wars could quite possible be a bunch of girl power nonsense? I’ve heard rumors the Rey is said to be more powerful than Luke Skywalker. Who else was rumored to be more powerful than Luke? F~~~ing Mara Jade. S~~~ty, Mary Sue, EU character.

I’ve been a card carrying Star Wars fanatic and nerd culture enthusiast since 1977 (you know, before it was ‘in’) and will go in the theater with an open mind. I can honestly say with what I have been seeing and hearing I’m not optimistic. All female Ghostbusters and now this?

We have to be realistic and accept that this could be another thing they’re going to ruin.

GOT is the closest thing to a realistic medieval world. In a manly, dangerous world you get killed easily, women get raped and killed in the show as well for that matter, Eunuchs were common in the medieval world, Sam  is a coward mangina white knight and I believe those have always existed as well but he is not expected to be the most powerful leader or warrior as you understand. Dany is a the only Queen/leader and she’s probably based on Queen Elizabeth which by the way also existed and was not particularly known to be a feminist and her image relied on being a womanly virgin/mother (Female attributes not seeking to be a man), same with Brienne, she’s a believable manly warrior because she was born with a manly body, etc.

The show is violent (manly), not toned down at all (manly), have powerful male figures, most women have womanly roles such as be wives or sex objects, etc. Seriously, what would be a manly show for you? You’re becoming fanatic bro, I don’t salute you!

I think the bad thing about it is trying to push a square peg into a round hole. Genetically created warrior humans are men like it is in the lore. A 6’3 genetically engineered clone male is going to be stronger than a 6’3 genetically engineered female. The whole body structure is different.
IMO a much more powerful female character would be something like this. Intelligent, agile and charismatic.

In good fantasy you will see females carry bows and often use quick wit and agility as they can rarely compete on a physical level. It’s not sexist its just how it is. I’m personally thinking these movies are going to worse and worse. I hope people do enjoy it but I just grew out of how PG Star Wars is.

Actually after the clone wars an  incident occurred when some of the clones rebelled along with the “rebels.” They destroyed the cloning chambers in Tipoca Cityy which is the primary cloning facility on Kamino. When that occurred the emperor had the template for Fett destoyed and they were made from various human templates. So if one sect rebelled the others would not follow. He did let the loyal Fetts to live but no more were made. I used to play a lot of Battlefront 2. Which is an epic game.

I am not tripping on the female trooper…. these stories take place AFTER the death of Vader and the Emperor…so they in fact do not go against Star Wars canon lore. It makes perfect sense that a weakened empire, in a need to get more troops, elected to hire/recruit soldiers rather than wait for clones of Jenga Fett. The actress who is playing the trooper is very good at what she does…Gwendolyn Christie??

If you are worried about character/acting quality…I would be more concerned with a drunken Mark Hamill coming back to play the elder Luke the Jedi Master. Mark Hamill never was very good…and the few things I have seen him do over the past few decades would indicate he got even worse.

if one is discussing genetically engineered humans…it would make sense that a female could be engineered to be stronger than a naturally born female would be….. much like Captain America was engineered to be bigger and stronger than he was.

 

When I was a kid,..I stood in line waiting for Star Wars to open…seen that movie about 125 times in the theater back then. In those days there was a line drawn,…one was either a SW fan…or a trekkie…I have always liked both but much preferred SW at the time.

However,…when the new Trek came out,…with that fantastic cast,..and so well written….I walked out of that theater a born again Trekkie, lol.  While I will definitely go see the new SW movies…I am much more anxious to see the next Trek offering.
