    lambretta

I’m not quite a Lambretta racer but we all have our moments on the public roads. I was driving down a service road when caught in a speed trap, totally unfair.

    God Bless America, I’m Free
Cop didn’t show up to court, case dismissed. Only in America.

    I’m so happy.

Even on a my scooter, I have to keep it slow because the radar guys will get me in their bulls~~~ speed traps trying to make their quotas.

Luckily the cop fudged the information on the ticket (probably deliberately to be nice, felt bad for the guy on a scooter) and did not show up to court when I requested it be taken to trial at the municipal court.

I had to show up 3 times to court, fingers crossed and weeks of fear but it all paid off. The ticket was going to be $350 plus a mark on my license. Dismissed!

Anyone here got any interesting stories about the cops, tickets or riding a motorcycle or scooter?

Mine got thrown out because the tag was written that I was speeding in a 30 mph zone. I was easily able to prove there was no such thing as a 30 mph zone on the road I was supposedly speeding on. They grudgingly dismissed it when they KNEW I was right. Pricks

Well, how they get you in California is “Not sage to drive with the conditions of the road”

You can not prove or disprove that.

Also, if you don’t have one of these.

GET ONE. Not only will it tell you when cops are around, it will save you a S~~~ ton of hassle.

I received a ticket in NJ for ‘passing traffic in slower lane’ when I merged right to overtake the semi going 10 miles < than posted speed limit.

I was within the speed limit but the cop got me for passing the truck. Although I never merged left in front of the truck.

Happened years ago, and I paid the $45 ticket.

North Dakota last year I got written up a warning for going at 75 at 2:30AM where the speed dropped to 65 during nighttime.

I got pulled over at around 9:00 P.M. travelling below the speed limit. The cop said the speed limit was reduced for construction (no workers, signs, markings, or equipment anywhere in sight). I just gave him a blank stare, said okay, and that was the end of it. No ticket. Pretty weird.

If the ticket was only $45, I’d pay it.

They wanted $350 and I wasn’t anywhere near a school or construction zone.

Screw that. I’d of served the 3 days in county jail. Time served, keep my money. My time isn’t worth much obviously LOL

For some people, $350 is worth it, to not deal with lousy food or street people. NOT ME! LOL Most of those people in jail are there for missed child support or failure to appear for some bullcrap charge. Ill just tell them all about MGTOW!

I am relieved I don’t have to go to jail though. Lesson learned, don’t speed.

My first ‘bike’ was a Yamaha Midnight Special, 50 cc’s.
It was considered a Moped but could get to about 55 mph downhill. Fun little bike.

As I was learning to ride and practice for the test, pops and I would load it into the back of his truck and he would take me to the country back roads, so I could practice. Gwads, I miss my pops.

One day, a couple of reserve Sheriff Deputies decided to f~~~ with me.

They scared me by following to close until I went down a dead end.
The Wyatt Earp wanna-bees boxed me in and started to grill me. I was young, never talked to the po-po before. Not fun.

Time goes by and they call an actual LEO. I hear the conversation over the radio.

Real LEO was like ‘I’m not giving him a ticket unless I catch him’. In other words, f~~~-off you two f~~~-wits.

Turd-knockers were like ‘meet us here…..’
Before we got to ‘here’, I got off the bike, put the key in my pocket and started to push the f~~~ing thing.

Real LEO shows up. He asks, you gonna push that all the way back?
    Me: Yup.

Real Leo berates the two f~~~-wits for a couple of minutes then hauls ass away. F~~~-wits also tear-ass away. Mean while, I’m pushing the tiny bike through gravel.

Me? I get back on and fire that mother-f~~~er back up and head for the hills.

Thx. Sadly Yamaha does not make them any more and haven’t since the 80s.
IMO, it was the PERFECT starter bike for a teenaged boy.

Functioned like a big boy bike, controls and transmission but did not have a lot of power.

Back in the 80s it was barley legal (or perhaps it wasn’t) to take onto the Interstate’s.

Of course being a teenager I did take that bitch onto the Interstate. Though I never did during high traffic.
Always, very early or very late.

On a service road? Almost no traffic road and the cop wrote you a ticket. I suspect the cop was like stated looking to fill a quota.

    On a service road?

Yea, here in the city, they have service roads. On the service road, you’ll have an intersection every mile or so.

I think you get the picture, its a service road for crying out loud, everyone is driving about 45mph give or take.

It’s also a great place for rich cities to sneak in a 35mph Speed Limit sign behind a low tree branch LOL. Then a radar cop fills his quota for the month in one afternoon. They know it’s unethical as all get out. But they never plan to stand behind them in court because 90% of people stopped are just gonna pay the ticket….

The cop doesn’t even have to get in his car or chase, they radar you, then walk out in the road and hand wave you down. Write the ticket and back to the radar. Shooting fish in a barrel.

Honest to god, I had half a mind to just gun it, evasion! They have a no chase policy for motorcycles in Dallas. I’m not going to test that policy on a scooter though. heheh

I was clipping along on my motorcycle after finishing a safety course to expedite getting my endorsement. It was the first or second weekend after I got the little “M” on my license and I was out in the country unlocking what my sporty bike could do. I hit 90 and didn’t even realize it until I looked down and goosed the brakes.

I was decelerating when I clipped past a cop going the other way. I see the lights flick on but he has to get turned around. At this point I had a small heart attack and pulled over. The cop finally caught up to me (about 5 minutes later).

He didn’t even give me a citation. We talked a few minutes and he said, “Son, I already decided what I was going to do before I turned around. If I caught you, I was already planning to let you go. Watch yourself, I don’t like cleaning kids off the pavement.”
