    I had a late lunch. Indian food. I wish there were more ethnic restaurants. Then put my phone on the dash covering up the speedometer, on youtube live, to watch the SpaceX launch while I drove at 5mph on the freeway. I thought that was a great way to handle rush hour traffic. All was going well. Eating the remainder of the Indian pan bread while watching the launch preparation not giving a damn about how slow traffic was. A beautiful day. This is the day I was going to see the first rocket in the history of mankind be reused. Would it blow up and ground SpaceX for another six months? Would it destroy historical launchpad 39A. As much as I like a good explosion I’d much rather it happen on another launch. Things were going well. Countdown from 30, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and I’m holding my breath…

    … And nothing happens. All of a sudden youtube has lagged out. Why of all times must it lag out on the very last second?! I drive the rest of the way home. YouTube continues to spin in lag. Damn my bad luck! Another typical day in my life of never ending bad luck.

    I did get to see it eventually. I downloaded and watched everything closely. No rapid disassembly. Everything working smoothly. The first stage smoothly flips after the second stage separates. A beautiful round mesmerizing planet in the background. As it descend you can start to see the clouds. It’s still daylight. Guidance fins come out. It looks like the first stage will land successfully for a second time. The barge camera is now being used. You can see it is near sunset. Beautiful sky with some cumulus clouds made beautiful by the sunset. I’m waiting for the nearly 20 story high first stage to appear in the sky and land. Any second now…

    And they cut away to the control center. Some fake blond bimbo with long hair past her boobs and on to her fat stomach is talking. Twice now I’m robbed at the last second. My bad luck once again.

    Blue Origin did this in January of 2016. Their rocket is DESIGNED to be reusable. Instead of trying to do fancy tailstands to wow the Elon fanboys, Bezos’ company started with a fundamentally different system built from the start for reusability.

    Of course nobody cares because he’s not “the closest thing we have to Tony Stark” as my stupid Musk-eteer friend says.

    Blue Origin did this in January of 2016. Their rocket is DESIGNED to be reusable. Instead of trying to do fancy tailstands to wow the Elon fanboys, Bezos’ company started with a fundamentally different system built from the start for reusability.

    Of course nobody cares because he’s not “the closest thing we have to Tony Stark” as my stupid Musk-eteer friend says.

    Like comparing a bicycle to a motorcycle. Bezos’ toy needs to power up 10x to 100x more to be in the same class. Kind of like doing 5% of the work and claiming the rest is easy.

    Damn shame man, Hope you can find the videos / info somewhere. It’s almost as though the creators of the video weren’t interested in the rocket…
