Sophia robot has been updated

I find it intresting how fast robotics are evolving . Will it get to the stage like blade runner where they themselves beleave they are human .

This is her now after an update

Trek TNG has one of my favorite episodes Inheritance, dealing with the exact topic of a Bot (Android) where Data’s mother (a scientist) goes through her life not realizing she is Android, thinking all along she was human. Only by chance is it detected that she is not what she always thought she was.
I personally think that it’ll even go further than that, when the androids ie Bots will not even want to be human. Typical dental or health scans will not give a clue due to masking. Even magnetic resonance scanning will reveal nothing, unless by accident .. only the deepest techniques will hint at evidence non-organics .. and even then it will only be a clue, a guess, an inkling. It will take something on the order of long term analysis of eye blink patterns to definitively conclude that one is possibly Android. There will be definite advantages for the Bots while living out a life as an Android or ultra-advanced Bot. Interchangeable-replaceable parts will vastly extend lifespans. They will be capable of much faster processing and learning than humans. The Bots will live among humans but could actually develop some degree of superiority complex as they will see themselves more advanced in every way. Faster, stronger and far more dexterous than their human counterparts. They will be fluent in every language.
The problem also won’t be that the fem-Bots can’t replace the current awalt women of today as house mates or life long companions for those wishing this lifestyle. The problem for the Vintage traditional women will be that he new Androids will be impossible to compete with .. in every single way.
Don;t just take my word for it .. I like thinking about these future certainties .. just think about the fact that your Smart Phone in your pocket has over a million times more computing power than all of NASA capabilities during first Moon landing.
The Bots “fem-Bots” and Droids are on the horizon, they will likley be far more capable and independent and interesting than we currently can even imagine .. society needs to prepare for the upcoming sociological shock and inevitable incorporation of an entire new generation of Androids, Bots and Holograms into our everyday lives.

That thing looks just like the guy doing the interview. It’s amazing how lifelike Sophia is! I can just imagine men and women of the future not having anything yo do with each other as they will all have their android partners. Think of the money you’ll save on dinner dates!

Can’t we be satisfied with just making simulacra that move and interact with humans in a fashion natural to humans without having to burden our own thinking of them with false anthropormophic claptrap?

Bald guy, white coat, white surroundings, scripted dialogue… it’s all bulls~~~.

I remember when the “android” phone came out thinking “We’re so desperate to see our vision of the future in the real world that we’ve destroyed the word “android” by turning it into a product name. And this is no different.

Show me a video of this “Sophia” (Greek for “wisdom”… e.g. philosophy meaning “love of wisdom”) trying to mop a floor or take a call when I’m busy or administering a blow job or whatever use it’s supposed to have and maybe I’ll be impressed.

But this is pure woo, just like the “condense water from the air with the power of the sun on your next hiking trip” video someone linked me today. Looks good when filmed under very carefully controlled laboratory conditions, completely bogus in practical application.

Someone wake me up when the “robots” are ambulatory, conversant in English and can do practical work.

Seriously don’t see this technology getting anywhere near the real thing in my lifetime. If nothing else the physical appearance of these robots is for me creepy. Each to their own but i think it will be another 2-3 generations before they can’t be told apart from the rest of us.

I don’t think it will end well though, blade runner and Terminator comes to mind! Lol

I think what will get pretty amazing in our lifetimes though will be VR.
