Anonymous18Lately I have been venturing out on solo camping trips during the weekends. And I am loving every moment of the peaceful solitude.
From planning to setting up the tent and the drive back home reflecting on a calm and laid back weekend- its all blissful.
I do feel being MGHOW is like getting a thick coating of oil where people’s opinion wash off like water.
Wondering what are some hobbies that men here have that doesn’t require more than one’s own company.
The freedom to enjoy my own company and the positivity from this mindset is truly liberating.
Happy for you broski. Keep on keeping on.
Peace is > piece.
I get a lot out of mountain biking when in season and hiking whenever I can.
Just being completely alone with nature is very therapeutic.
Biking, hiking, climbing are good for some gtfo (get the f~~~ outside) time, often more enjoyable alone at your own pace.

Sounds great. I enjoy working alone .. and as much outdoor as possible.

Anonymous12I have always been a loner and if the internet and computers existed when I was a kid I would have been in 7th Heaven.
So interests I have that are solo,
* walking
* Guitar
* Model building
* Gardening
* CookingVirtually anything can be done alone it’s just some people like to f~~~ it up by making it a social thing.
I too love the outdoors.
I do triathlon so regularly have a long outdoor run on the weekends.
Last weekend the sun was out and I ran along the canals.
MEN EVERYWHERE.
Running, Fishing, Reading, BBQ’ing, Boating.
Regardless of our individual circumstances, we’d all got out and spent some valuable time to ourselves.
I either, smiled, said good morning or gave a quick nod to all I passed.
A great day.
-Asides from working out. I love Chess, Tinkering with Electronics and I’ve just started a Falconry course.
Protect Your Sovereignty. Women WILL TRY To Manipulate You. #NOCONTACT #ICETHEMOUTI do a lot of solo rides on my Harley. Back roads with minimal traffic, wind in your face and the sun on your body. My only interactions with people are gas stations, coffee places, or maybe a lunch place.
Always clears my mind and refocuses me on the direction of my life. I don’t even wave to other motorcyclists.Anyway communication, real open communication, is not wanted or even required in a relationship. Women cannot handle fully open and honest communication, plus most perceive it as a weakness on the part of a man. All that is required is catering to her whims, and even then nothing is certain. There is no way to be sure of having a successful relationshit with a woman. MGTaoist
This is exactly the reason I run 5-10 miles every day. The solitude, the time in my head, the burning in my lungs forcing me to focus on the important things. It filters out all the nonsense.
People laugh when I tell them I live like a monk. Eliminate distractions, it does wonders.

Read a book. Build a fire. Cook over the fire. Pay for a fishing license. Rent a canoe. Hike. Climb trees. Do pushups using two burned out stumps as elevation blocks like you’re in Karate Kid or Rocky. Find the Crystal Skull.
Or, you know, just read and listen to how alien the natural world sounds. Be amazed at its wild indifference to you. Try not to get eaten by grizzly bears, coyotes, or mosquitoes.

As JAG pointed you, there is a multitude of things. And each depends on the kind/type of camping site you are at.
Last weekend outing, it rained for a while on Saturday so I lied down and listened to the rain drops on my tent. Lol, sounds lame but once you are out there with the front of your tent open and a mild breeze, its harmonious.
I have always wanted to get into hiking but just not sure how to go about it
I know that sounds like a stupid question but do you just buy up a good pair of walking boots, have a rucksack with a few supplies in it and go off to a trail? I prefer empty and quiet so could anyone suggest I do?

Once you’re out there and already disconnected from everything, the hard work is done. It’s really easy to just be once you get over the hurdle of leaving everything else. Make sure you turn your phone off unless you need to make a call. Men don’t instagram their outings–that’s a bitch move.

Start with a public park somewhere reasonably close. Make sure it actually has some semblance of trails. Take a decent pair of shoes, pack a small lunch, and spend the day just walking those trails. If you like it, if you find it relaxing and it has value, then step it up and go to the nearest state or national park, which should be much bigger, and find longer trails. These should be deeper and wilder because the state parks are much bigger and less manicured.
The advice here is just go somewhere and start walking. Stick to trials until you’re comfortable with very uneven / possibly unstable terrain.

Thanks for the advice

I’ve also been thinking of starting… I was thinking of starting in my backyard so I can figure out all that I’d need.
Another way to look at the solitude is how the desert fathers did. We are so conditioned to have our mind filled by things of the world. When we remove those, we are only left with our own thoughts. Like the desert fathers would go into the desert for weeks at a time and they experienced great spiritual growth.I am rediscovering the value in solo mountain biking lately, truly blissful experience. I was in the deep forest yesterday, there were likely few bears closer to me than first human. Likely more than just few.
Just the whole experience of going from civilization into deep forest and with additional layer of distance after every cross-road gave me a big smile on my face.
I am seriously contemplating doing a month long solo trip in one of the most remote regions in the world. Already did something similar a decade ago.
I have some deep rooted fear on being alone in the forest during night which is likely very reasonable fear, but once i deal with this I can also imagine how being alone in the forest during night has to be peaceful.
The choices we make, not the chances we take, determine our destiny
