So how do you feel about the new Nintendo switch?

If you have been following gaming lately Nintendo announced their switch console and i wonder how you feel about this.

Personally i want to buy it day one on the basis that it actually looks to have third party support because i do want to play third party games on a Nintendo console and they actually seem to deliver (as of right now).

So do you think this is gonna f~~~ Nintendo or will it be a hit? also how else will the coming 9th gen of gaming go?

I’m actually going to be buying the nes classic edition console. It comes with 30 8 bit games. It comes out November 11.

I’ve got a raspberry pi in each house running emulators with more classic games than I can count. Why would I need a new console?

Pleb using an emulator and a NES controller for PC is cheaper then that plus you have a larger library to pick from since you can have American, European and Japanese Famicom releases on it.

Not only this but you can use the same controller for a sega master system/gamegear emulator so you can play even hundreds of more games on it simply by downloading them.

Probably just because emulation for modern consoles is not up to speed yet either then that if you do not play modern games all that much you won’t have much need for the console however i personally like the ideal of playing skyrim or gta5 on the toilet.

I was specifically talking about the NES classic.

But as to current gen consoles, I don’t see much point there either. The PS4 was a feature rollback from the PS3 what with it intentionally dropping DLNA support etc. When a $30 raspberry pi can do things intentionally removed from a current gen console, well that doesn’t speak much for the need for a current gen console, now does it. All the current console generation has done is make me consider rejoining the glorious pc master race once again. It’s not like the console specific games are really worth the console itself these days, especially as so many are pay-to-win, and I suspect they will become fewer and fewer as the consoles switch over to intel hardware anyways.

I know current gen gaming is becoming a cash cow especially once sony joined in on the paid subscription model like Microsoft and the line up of s~~~ games like the new cod (which forced people into paying extra for modern warfare) and the line of s~~~ games created by Ubisoft.

However i like the Nintendo on the basis that the first party games usually are good and the switch appears to be having some third party support as well which makes me excited for this one console.

And when it comes to PC gaming i know you can do alot more on it to which is why i am looking into a buying a new graphics card and more ram. But for right now i am mostly using emulators on it.

I didn’t know about that until just now. I traded my wii u for an xbox one a while ago because the game selection for wii u was crap, the new zelda looks pretty good though so I’ll consider it once I get a job.

GTA mods are a hell of a lot more fun than the GTA games themselves. Running from the cops is just that much more fun in a Reliant Robin or a Peel P50. Even if you fail, and you will fail spectacularly, it’s still fun. More fun usually.

To the best of my knowledge you can’t do that on any console.

Technically you can but it is a pain in the ass to jailbreak a console and it voids the warranty so if it breaks you are f~~~ed in that regard.

With PC it simply is downloading a file then putting it in a specific folder with console it is jailbreaking the console then doing alot more steps till you get a modded game.

It depends on what you are doing most consoles unless they are really old do not need to be Jailbreaked to get HD and 720p resolution as a simple AV to HDMI conversion cable will do for most consoles.

If you Jailbreak a system it is better to buy a used one or a cheaper one if you really need the warranty i don’t recommend doing it to anything 8th gen especially in the case if you brick it.

So if you want a Jailbreak get a used console that is rather cheap but large in memory to store games on it. Don’t try it with anything new or anything sentimental to you just in case you brick it. I know i am not doing with it with my PSP and i am just gonna buy a used one because i don’t wanna risk bricking the handheld which i got for my 11th birthday (16 now).

But my PC can do full 4k+ right now, so the effort of jailbreaking a console to get a mere 1080p (or less) isn’t really worth it even with newer consoles.

Really the only problems I have with PC gaming is the case size and fan noise. I keep hoping for a good small mITX or µATX solution that can fit a huge-ass video card in the console spave of say, a first gen Xbox, but I haven’t found one yet.

Oh and windows. I keep hoping for steamos to take off for real, but it always seems to be a year or two away for mass game support.

That is why i only recommend doing it if you want to play emulated games or software on it.

The nes classic looks cool.I just got a supaboy a portable snes 2 weeks ago.I have a wii u it doesn’t have that many good games on it .I also got forza horizon 3 on Xbox one
