Per the forecast, the freezing rain is starting right on time so it appears to be valid. I hope there are no power issues though my EU2000 is ready for action. We are possibly to get a whopping 2 to 3 inches of snow.

People here cannot drive on the snow so it would behoove one to not venture out if one is currently driving in the coastal Southeast. I even extend this advice to our lurking haters for I worry about your well-being also.

This appears to a nor’easter type storm developing. The NEVER deposit snow this far down South so keep an eye on it Northeastern Brothers.

Where do you live CP? I’m planning on going to Hilton Head at the end of next week.

Extremely close to Hilton Head ‘cept on the Georgia side. I can see it though.

It’ll be cleared out long by then. We’ve a 9% chance of 6 inches here. It’s gets worse the further North you go up the coast. Since it’s a baby nor’easter the coastal areas will get the heaviest snow.

I woke to a balmy 9 f. -12.7 c. it actually felt warm compaired to the sub 0 arctic we’ve been inundated with! The roads are white from unmelted snow, salt, and ice!

That storm is due here tomorrow! 30 degrees f. temperature difference between the cape and inland, or less than 100 miles, I expect it’s gonna dump here with zero visibility!

Today I’m rearranging things so the Gravely W/snow cannon is in the garage all charged up and ready to go!

Where’s my tax rebate for cleaning up after YOUR STORM!

I also have some more pipes to cut and replace from (((FREEZING)))!!!

Even the goats and turkeys look miserable!

P.S. I gave the chicken an honorable dumpster burial after she lay frozen in the corner for a week!

Those bitches get stronger the further North they go. It’s not even spun up, and I’m getting a little sleet right now.

Very few people know what it’s like to come in weighing 30 lbs more covered in snow and ice! Or have your seat and half your interior packed with snow because you accidentally left a vent window open! I’ve seen snow accumulate indoors from a keyhole in the blizzard of “78”.

The trick to driving in snow is DON’T! But if you must, wait until it’s no longer fresh and greasy! It stiffens up within an hour of accumulating. Warmer temperatures not withstanding, it can get greasy in that event also.

Cold snow= traction (burning your tires not withstanding) Hot tires make it worse!

    Warm snow= GREASE!

Letting air out of your traction tires also helps, a low pressure tire has more tread contact with the road increasing traction. But go slow, speed can damage the tires.

I hate snow and cold. It was a high of -7 New Year’s Day here in Chicago. I prefer 90 degrees in July over crappy snow and cold.

I’m in South Jersey and I LOVE the snow! Love hitting the Pines in my 02 Wrangler! Lifted, 32×11.5 Cooper STT’s make short work of the snow covered trails and I can get away from EVERYTHING out there! Love driving on the parkway too: I love seeing the idiots in the 4WD and AWD vehicles stuck on the median or down in a ditch because they thought 4WD meant they could do 80mph in 3″ of snow and slush! #LET~~~NOW!

In the “Hilton Head” area you guys are f~~~ed. There is no way the regular Joe is ready for what is going to happen. I remember an inch of snow in HH many years ago and it drove everything to a stand still. Good luck C-Pig and stay safe!

That video shows exactly why I hate winter; it’s scary and dangerous to drive.

By the way, you’d think the Russians would be better accustomed to driving in snow, but I guess you can’t.

It depends. There is even a sort of Russians who are called “snowdrops” because they stop driving with the first snow and getting back on roads only when the Spring comes

Cleaned a half-cord of ash out of the insert this morning.
New fire built – ready to light later.
    Inside wood storage maxed out.
Will spark up and run the Ariens for a bit later.
Food, Vodka and Scotch in good shape.
Blizzaks on the Subie, just in case I decide to venture out.
I love a good storm – just as long as I don’t need to go anywhere. Early am start tomorrow here in the NE.

Spoke to a buddy down in SW FL this morning – his son left to drive home to New Orleans. I don’t think they checked the forecast – that looks like a direct route via Hell right now.

Four wheel drive in snow isn’t much use without the tires.

I’ve driven over both Snake pass and Woodhead pass in a front wheel drive car with summer tyres before now-reached glossop just as tehy were putting the closed barriers up.

Agreed. Years ago had a RWD car that was horrible in the snow (as expected). Put a set of Blizzaks on that and it transformed it. Like a rally car you could throw around the corners. Way better than a 4WD X5 I had with low profile, all-season tires. Fancy dancy electronic 4WD and all – it absolutely sucked. All about the tires.

4WD with good winters – bring it on.

C-pig, power went out an hour ago.

Sheriff said ice on trees caused then to fall onto power lines and catch fire. Pretty cool seeing lines of fire with winter snow.

Looks like we are at 5 inches now.

Stay safe brother. Holler if you need anything

    Peace brothers
