Labour’s Emily Thornberry accused Sky News presenter Dermot Murnaghan of sexism during an extraordinary argument live on TV today.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3783925/Let-s-air-Shadow-Foreign-Secretary-Emily-Thornberry-accuses-Sky-News-presenter-sexism-asked-French-foreign-minister.html
    Thornberry

Despite her brief – which involves holding the government to account on the forthcoming Brexit negotiations – she was unable to name the French Foreign Minister, who is likely to be err, quite closely involved in those negotiations.

When quizzed shortly after on the recent escalation in tensions between North and South Korea she was unable to give the name – or even the gender – of the South Korean president.

Thornberry’s natural reaction was of course to accuse Murnaghan of sexism, and claim that these kinds of questions would never be asked of a male politician.

Of course they wouldn’t. I mean, what kind of a shadow foreign minister would be expected to know the principle actors in her country’s most important negotiations for the last 50 years? Why would a politician involved in overseas relations need to be aware of who is most likely to start a nuclear war in the next few weeks?

A few minutes later Thornberry went on to suggest that the minister in charge of the Brexit negotiations was not fully in control of his department. Keen observers of British politics might remember what happened a few months ago when a similar suggestion was made about Education Secretary (and former Minister for Women) Nicky Morgan; Morgan immediately accused the questioner of sexism!

    Double standards all round!

You say "love is a temple, love the higher law" ...You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl. And I can't be holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt
