Steel, oil, and coal was the life blood of this nation, we used to get showered in the carbon from steel and coal, it used to collect anywhere the rain couldn’t wash it off, turned all the lakes green from pH imbalance and nutrient enrichment. You couldn’t paint a house without scrubbing it down with detergent.

We had a rich country full of industry, now it’s all abandoned, shut down, and forgotten, just like home sweet home.

Hey, I’ve seen that Buick before…I remember seeing it on a trip around the Great Lakes…It was the barge tow vehicle at the locks at Sault St. Marie circa 1986. You could put an extra barge through the lock if you didn’t need to send a pusher boat through. See that giant hitch rack thing? That is where an I beam was attached, and the barges were tied to the I beam.
