Hello, my unmarried brothers …
I am one of the older members here. I turn 71 in a few months. This topic here, is about Should I get rid of my car?…selling my car, and not buying a new one. Perhaps, I will give it to my older son, with a brand-new tuneup, oil change, brake job and tires, etc., as he is considering buying a new car.
I have two sons. I will pay my other son the money that my car and service jobs and tires etc., are worth.
I only drive about 300 miles per month now. I am not married. The wife died a few years ago. And, I no longer drive to work as I have retired.
I considered getting married again. However, Tom Leykis and MGTOW saved me from that dangerous
bullet!!
I do not go out on dates with other women. Here in the county I live in Nevada, Prostitution is legal. I can pay a woman that I know very well, and can trust, to come here to my home on occasion.
I can use taxi service, or Uber, to shop twice a month, and get me to my doctor and dentist, twice a year, for a very low price.
Do you guys think I should just unload the car? I did a cost analysis on it. And when I figure in insurance gasoline oil changes depreciation tires, etc. it is costing me about $1.08 a mile. If I don’t have a car I will save $5300 Per year.
I would certainly appreciate your advice and input on this question about unloading my car. Thank you very much in advance.H L
If you can use uber and taxi’s, just get rid of it. Everyone ages at a different rate, but as you might not be as good a driver as you get older, let someone else do the driving.

Navada, city limits? Sure, get rid of it if you lose no independence. Where I live it’s a death sentence to be without wheels.

Yea, if you feel you can get by with Uber or taxis go for it. It makes financial sense to unload something you only drive like 300 miles per month. That adds up to be like 3600 miles per year so basically you are paying $1.50 for every mile you drive. Plus consider that there won’t be the risk of driving your car around getting into an accident and having the scumbags at the insurance company jack up your rate.
Do a cost/benefit analysis. Which option will cost you less in the long run?
Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

Anonymous3Do a cost/benefit analysis. Which option will cost you less in the long run?
Cost: freedom
Benefits: the heirsLet us do the math: all the possessions that remain dividing by the heirs…
Yes sir. Sounds like it’s time to let her go…….the car that is. Using public/uber etc sounds like a plan.
Peace is > piece.

I’m helping a friend restore one of those right now. 440 / 6-Pack car. Red. Very kick-ass.

This is a seriously personal question. I think I’ll drive until the day I die, cost be damned.
For you though, since you consider it possible, let it go and be happy with the the savings. Since you have options to get around, you will be okay without wheels.
Please notice that my opinion doesn’t include your sons.
They are men on their own. Make your choice based on your requirements.
I failed to realize in my youth that I was the prize. I was going to work. I was going to earn. Little did I realize that due to feminism, that no longer meant I had to share. Road soon, Desert after.

Anonymous0I’d just sell it. If you need the tax break you can donate it.
Well, if it’s a classic, I’d sell it. Personally, I like the idea of having a car so I can do some scenic driving. Since I like to hike in the mountains, and I don’t have a chauffeur, I’m going to be driving cars all my life. But if you live in an area where transportation is great and you can get stuff delivered to you, I think selling it is a good idea—if you could use the extra money. If you have enough money, I’m sure your son would greatly appreciate it.
I hope you have a great MGTOW day.

GRAB LIFE BY THE PUSSY.
Yes. This is good advice!

Interesting question.
In my opinion, there are two aspects to consider.
First, owning a car affords you a certain amount of freedom and independence. I deal with probably 40 seniors/day and the majority don’t want to stop driving because of this freedom and independence issue.
I would advise you to keep your vehicle for this reason.Economically, you can probably save money by selling your vehicle, but are you willing to give up a degree of independence?
Don’t make any quick decisions. Maybe stop driving for a month and see if you like it.

Anonymous0What independence? He has Uber. Ok. Sell it and get a motorcycle.

Anonymous24If I lived in a place where it was possible I would ditch my car and just ride a bicycle everywhere. Just one less problem/expense to deal with and better for my health as well to be getting the exercise.
Very kind of you to treat your sons equally, even if you do have a favorite.
This is what I love about this site. A man asks a serious question and gets some good advice that covers the full spectrum. Kudos MGTOW… I wish I lived somewhere where I could have good safe pussy delivered once/twice a month!
condemnation before investigation = ignorance
I lived car-free in both Tucson and Metro Detorit for three years and loved every minute of it.
What was supposed to be a one year experiment in simple living turned into to three years of motor-free bliss. I was shocked at how easily I adapted to not having a car. I did rent a car on the weekends a couple of times a month, mostly so I could get out of town and go camping.
You’ll never understand just how much head space owning a car takes up until you get rid of the thing. It’s truly liberating.
You should keep a car just in case you need it.
Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.
I would keep it. That’s around how much I drive.
It depends on how much of an inconvenience it would be to catch mass transit or rides from family/friends if you had no car.
"He didn't marry until now, so he won't ever do it. Think about it, why would a man like him ever marry? It's too late to catch him. " ~some cunt

Anonymous0Besides Uber, you could rent a car or truck for a few days if you needed to move some stuff or had an unusual amount of running around to do.
A car is going to continue to depreciate until it’s worth almost nothing. In the meantime, you’re paying for insurance, maintenance, and etc.
