People think I’m crazy for doing this, but I store literally EVERYTHING that I find online that I like. That includes music, pictures, YouTube videos, regular movies, and porn.

The sad truth is, ANYTHING that’s online right now can be taken down in an instant either by censorship, BS laws, the original owner deleting it (in the case with some YouTube videos), or just going down because the owner doesn’t want to maintain them anymore.

I have a 20TB collection right now and it’s growing by the day. To put that into perspective, most people have a 1TB hard drive on their computer, and if you have a newer computer with an SSD, you probably have 120GB to 240GB of storage (1TB = 1,024GB).

My porn collection is only about 100GB or so. To be honest with you, I get off to mostly furry porn (NOT animal porn – if you’re curious feel free to look it up – I’m not going to describe it here as that’s almost an entirely different topic in and of itself) and stories so I don’t have a lot of porn videos. But I have THOUSANDS of stories all backed up in Word documents.

I am SO GLAD that I’ve been doing this all these years. I’ve been collecting and downloading everything that I see online that I like for about 15 years now, and most of it is nowhere to be found online. And best of all, if I don’t have internet (I’m on the road, the power is out, the internet is down, etc.) I still have loads of entertainment at my fingertips. So many people have started to rely on nothing but streaming that I fear that people will own literally NOTHING in the coming years.

I still have my very first porn picture I ever looked at stored on my hard drive. It doesn’t exist ANYWHERE else online. Sure it’s small and s~~~ty by today’s standards, but it’s a part of my history. I also have the very first furry porn picture I ever saw stored on my hard drive. I don’t have my first video as frankly I’ve never really been a video porn person (and the net was waaaaay too slow for me to download a video back then), but my collection is pretty complete.

The only thing I’m afraid of is the fact that I think hard drives have pretty much topped out in capacity without making them physically larger. The last thing they’ve tried is filling them with helium, and they’re incredibly expensive. I have 6 8TB hard drives in my rig (3x8TB = 24TB + another 3x8TB backup drives) for a total of 24TB of capacity. To get just another 8TB I’m going to have to buy 2 more 8TB drives. I don’t think my power supply will support 10 hard drives so upgrading past that is going to be tricky. I would use a NAS, but the latency kills me. F~~~, I hate even using local hard drives as they seem slow to me. I can’t wait for 20TB+ SSD’s.

Anyway, this is just a reminder to everyone to back up everything. One day you’ll wish you had something and it won’t be ANYWHERE online. It will be lost, most likely forever.

I agree with your post and I do the same thing. I have about 5 TB of movies music and video games backed up in case I cannot find them on line again. My brother asked me why I don’t use the cloud and I told him that I didn’t trust an external source that I have no control over being used to back up my stuff. I question the so called privacy of these external sources as well.

    100% agree.

I have this on my home network. Store all the s~~~ on there from websites, books, music, videos, and whatnot.

Encrypted of course. 🙂 Raid 5 for general protection and I bought a spare drive and have it on a battery backup. (I don’t f~~~ around with my data.) I am thinking of buying some Amazon Glacier space to push older data to it. Its encrypted as well.

    I do the same thing

Have a WD EX4, so far have three 6tb drives in there, will get another 6tb when I need it.

Have roughly 75% of that filled with everything I download, because I can see the day it’s not as easily accessible as it is today

I knew there were some weirdasses on here i just knew it.

And as for saving s~~~ i just use discs and usb drives to store my stuff to which i store s~~~ such as full comedy shows (the ones that youtube takes down), music, roms, emulators etc and while it sure as hell ain’t the fasted medium around it still works.

Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.

Hmmm. I use laptops that can hold 4 disks. I think I’ll buy some spinning rust 4TB drives for all those books and movies I’ve downloaded. Thanks for the idea.

Not a fan of porn here, but have you considered make it available for community in case something happens to you?

Otherwise it will be lost forever.

Backups are a hard thing since h265 is hard.

    If I could I would.
There is a hard limit to how much stuff you can store locally (also the more you store, the higher the odds of hardware failure).

I store, as a basic the following:
-Drivers. All that I need or have ever downloaded.
    -Patches. Especially old ones.
-Music. Its small, no reason not to.
    -A few key films/series.
    -Pron.

I got hard copies of everything locally. Even my music and movies are backed up locally. “IT-Guy” who does all my computer work said about the same things about “putting it all on the cloud”
