I was talking to the ex the other night about the kids and a small discussion about taxes and money came up. Like who claims who on their taxes. A little back story. When we met over 20 years ago, she was a couple years “late” on her taxes. She hadn’t filed for 2 or 3 years. Of course, being the white knight that I was, I straightened it out for her.

Anyway, back to the other night. She tells me that she hasn’t filed her 2016 taxes yet because she owes money. Because she didn’t factor in the fact that she would have to pay taxes on the alimony. Side note, she always calls it “spousal support” and I always call it alimony. F~~~ you, you’re not my spouse anymore. Maybe if they call it ex-spousal support………

Adults pay their taxes on time. Adults, who know that alimony is taxable income to them, either pay in at the time or at least hold some back to make the payment at the end of the year. Toddlers bury their heads in the sand and pretend that nothing will happen until they are screwed.

Back to her s~~~ty old spending habits. Same as it ever was.

This just reinforces to me why a man should never marry in his 50’s. You’re just a retirement plan for a f~~~ing toddler that thought their vagina would always bail them out. And then they hit the wall…..

And women wonder where all the good men have gone.

I remember for years my wife (an accountant) filing her sisters taxes within two hours of her W-2 arriving, so her ex couldn’t claim the kids… and one year she was late and he beat her to it…

That started her downwards spiral of not paying that year for a couple of years.

I don’t get it personally, but I also have to file mine myself for the first time in 11 years this year…

No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.

This time, It’s HIGHLY DOUBTFUL that she will find another White Knight to bail her out yet again.

Oh well, the Beauty of HER NOT being YOUR FINANCIAL BURDEN, and someday you won’t even have to know WHAT she’s Doing or NOT Doing.

It should be in the divorce decree how the children are claimed on the tax returns. We each claim one of the kids so that we can each file head of household, which is favorable to filing single.

And I took a screenshot of the texts back and forth about who is claiming who for the year in case she ever tries to lie about it.

The small discussion didn’t just come up she didn’t want to talk to you about the kids it was always about her unpaid taxes.

She wants more money from you.

That should be in memorandum of Official Mangina Rules:

When I went through my divorce (no fault) I had to pay a ton of spousal support. I claimed it on my tax returns for ’08-’10 and in 2009 my ex had the audacity to ask me NOT to claim it because she didn’t want to pay taxes on the support she was receiving. She also didn’t claim it on her ’08 returns. This after she initially called me in ’08 right after I left and begged for more support because she had a car payment. She owned 10K and I left our joint savings with 19K which would have easily paid it off. The house was paid off too. Rather than do that she calls be begging for more support which I did give in to and later wants me to eat the expense on my returns? F~~~ YOU C~~~!

Remind her that taxes are optional and she can stop paying anytime.

Sounds like she needs some jail time.
