So this week, a woman from another internet service provider rang at my door and tried to win me as customer.
What finally convinced me not to sign up was that she didn’t have any brochure, and that she didn’t want to leave a contract so that I could read everything. If I as a customer don’t get the time to check out everything, then there is something wrong, and I will not sign it. Of course, I could cancel within 14 days – if that works out. But why first signing and then reading what I signed, that doesn’t make sense.
However, the fun part was where she tried to explain that everything would be so much faster. Now I have 16 Mbit, and the new stuff would have offered 50 Mbit. Well, but I don’t download much stuff and no streaming.
So I told her that for surfing, the difference is neglectable anyway. Oh no, she said, it’s always 50 Mbit. Wrong, I answered, because webservers don’t start out at 50 Mbit right away. They have to check whether the end device can take up the data fast enough. So they start at a slower speed, and by the time they would really crank up, smaller files are already downloaded. That’s why websites will not speed up.
She was really astonished, asking “who says that?”.
My answer: “I do, because I studied communications engineering.”
OWNED.
NICE!
Feminism isn't about equality with men, it's about leverage over men.
Very nice.
Don't stick your dick into anyone you aren't willing to put up with for eighteen years and nine months.
Always nice to take a woman down a couple pegs. Good job.
Feminism is a movement where opinions are presented as facts and emotions are presented as evidence.
Another thing was, there was an intern with her, a young guy. I think mostly for security reasons, they can’t send a woman around going into strangers’ appartments. He didn’t say much, his job was just being there.
I only have two chairs in my kitchen, and I didn’t want them to be in more private rooms, let alone in my lab where touching anything without being grounded might damage delicate electronics. So he didn’t get a chair, and jokingly, he said “oh well, no chairs for interns”. I joked back, “well, the point of an internship is to get one’s standpoint, isn’t it?” ^^
However, when I unloaded the technical stuff, it was nice to see the different reactions: she was just confused. He, however, started to think about what I said, whether it made sense. Typical female and typical male reaction.
i don’t trust door sales. when i need something, i’ll go find it.
I bathe in the tears of single moms.
