Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is expected to leave his role in the coming weeks once a new attorney general is confirmed, a report published early Wednesday said.
There was no indication he was being forced out of his position by President Donald Trump, but multiple sources told ABC News that Rosenstein always expected to serve about two years.
Rosenstein has made Trump and White House officials aware of his plan to leave, the report said. His exit is expected to occur around the time William Barr– Trump’s nominee for attorney general– would take office, ABC News said.
The Justice Department did not immediately respond to Fox News for comment early Wednesday.
Speculation of Rosenstein’s departure mounted after the firing of former Attorney General Jeff Sessions in November. He has overseen Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into whether Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election and has been a target of Trump on Twitter.

It seems things are playing out as expected six months ago. That Rosenstein will likely leave a few months after Sessions. If that is the case, with no one left in the DOJ to back up Mueller, Mueller might soon wrap up his witchhunt to save face instead of having the witchhunt shut down by someone else.

Peace is > piece.

I’d argue for the opposite actually. Mueller has nothing of substance, so if he shuts down voluntarily, he, the democrats, and all the Trump haters look like chumps. What would bail them out is if Trump or a subordinate shut it down. That way they can claim that Trump is hiding something, obstruction of justice, etc. and there were never be a need to re-evaluate their hate.
Ok. Then do it.

Got to keep the drama and lies up for the ratings.

Mueller is only thinking of a way to save himself and appear successful.
Right now the anvil is hottest for impeachment (over any excuse) by the democrats (whom now control the House). If Mueller presents is report, it does not matter if it is truthful, that he believes Pres Trump should be out of office, the dems will run with it. Mueller can close down and walk away, with the failure to remove Pres Trump being on the Congressional and Senate dems, not on Mueller.
If Mueller waits much longer, he will be made a political scapegoat of waiting to long.
Why go to the movies when you have such a wealth of entertainment in politics.
