The real scary part will come when elites hide behind their law enforcing robots, Elysium style. This will come a bit after jobs are lost en mass, just like it happens in the movie.

I respectfully disagree. Please hear me out.
One can usually postulate theories about the future, or future trends, based upon a thorough understanding of the present conditions and a good knowledge of the past.
Now, if we are to look at the actions of ‘the elite’ in the recent (technologically enabled) past and in the present, what do we see. We do indeed see a mass dislocation of labour force, so that part is true, but we also see many populist/socialist measures enacted by the same ‘elite’ directed at keeping people employed. It’s true that the vast majority of employment has become highly specialised and poorly paid, and it is in favor of ‘the elite’, but what they control is the means of production and the laws. They still need the populace as consumers for their products as well as for labour to maintain the system.
We are still very far away from fully automated processes in every aspect of the economy/productions. And by the time that is achieved, if ever, the population will have shrunk to a sustainable level (see population trends in “civilised” countries)
Furthermore, ‘the elite’ alone will never be able to keep up with the need for inovation and human intelligence, even with genetic enhancements(which at some point will be possible) so there will be a continuous need for “regular” people to become scientists, engineers, whatnot.
And, if not, then, a few hundred years from now, welcome The Superior Man. There will only be ‘the elite’ on Earth, and if everyone will be the same, they will stop being ‘the elite’ and will just be people.

Oh, and by the way, their ‘lite’ women will still bitch and nag and won’t give them sex. HaHaHa

The answer is NO. “I could but I won’t”. Memini murum!

Robots can be made like water bottles. By the millions in mass production. It takes 18 years to make a human soldier and they don’t come standardized. It’s just a matter of time before the people who have the robots make the rules.

That is all very possible. But considering that the strongest nation on the planet rules by force and seems intent on continuing to do so I think that what Frostbyte says below you will come into play before anything you put forth has a chance to come to fruition. You see, you left out the key to the strongest nation’s economy completely, that of the Military Industrial Complex and it’s intent of maintaining and expanding it’s global influence.

robots can build robots all they want, but only humans will be able to troubleshoot, service and repair robots. This is what I’m shooting for

I am sure being able to repair and enhance itself is one of the conditions of singularity.

Good point. In which case one of two possible outcomes will ensue. Either the second part part of my comment, only on an accelerated timeline, OR, more likely, nuclear war, in which case the only “elites” still alive will be the anaerobe bacteria next to the hot spring vents at the bottom of the sea, lol.

EDIT: I also think that it’s every nation’s intent to maintain and expand it’s global influence. It’s just that at this particular point in history, it’s the US who holds the top spot. That’s it. All previous holders of this spot had the same exact strategy if we are to look back at history.

EDIT2: Also, there are a many of other f~~~ers who are a lot more virulent and ruthless than the US, it’s just that they are not big or powerful enough to dominate. I for one would not want to see some of those crazy assholes in charge.

Problem is trying to rule via power and be in charge is exactly what will lead to MGTOWER’s endgame, that of Global Thermal Nuclear War. As a Libertarian I see the best route is that of trying to be friends with everyone and staying out of the business of escalating, instigating, and outright attacking as this only trains countries to do one thing: Pursue Nukes to maintain their Sovereignty as we can see with the DPRK right now and Iran as well. An example of this going sideways is Libya, Gaddafi kept his word and did not get nukes, look where it got him. This kind of s~~~ only reinforces the mindset of “we must get nukes or perish at whims of others”.

“we must get nukes or perish at whims of others”.

That is the primary cause for the proliferation of atomic weapons.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while.

The implications are deeper then no jobs for humans.

If robots can reproduce themselves autonomously, then it’s over for the human race.
