Guys I’ve been thinking about retirement lately.
For the last couple years my plan was to do the bare minimum. Ya know get 2k a month rolling in and then go retire in Thailand or the Philippines…
I’ve come to the realization that vacations are cool and necessary… But theres no f~~~ing way I can sit on a beach, drink and f~~~ hookers for the rest of my life.
I’d be bored within a month.

The secret is out- Retirement makes most guys completely depressed.
Men are built for action! If your life/job/situation sucks so bad, it’s time to find a new line of work.
Go challenge yourself to do bigger/better/more interesting things.

Inaction makes a Man stagnate. I’ve been at my job for 5 years now but it’s starting to get old.
I’m at the high-end of the payscale for what I do and I’m not being challenged.
I’m currently training for something new. I’m getting ready for a new city/new career.
I’ve decided I’m not getting out of bed in my 30’s for less then $50 / hour
Of course I wont make that starting out but as long as the potential is there thats all that matters.
F~~~ a destination! Life is about the JOURNEY

F~~~ retirement. My plan is to take mini-retirements along the way.
What do you guys think?
Not my property... Not my problem
I could sit on a beach and f~~~ hookers for the rest of my life. But you’re right. Retirement is a joke. Take some of your retirement years now, while you’re young enough to enjoy traveling and adventures. You’re not going to be able to do much when you’re 65.
I bathe in the tears of single moms.
I’d be bored within a month.
Retirement is a joke.
Agreed!
Edit: My post-retirement job is making sure my tenants pay their rent and depositing same in the bank. It’s tough, but somebody’s gotta do it.

Spot on man. When I took 18 months off I didn’t know what to do. I just had a two week vacation and was ready to go back to work after a few days.. It is about action. I can only sit around fish and drink beer so much before I feel like I’m wasting my time.
My stepdad who is retired goes fishing Monday through Friday like it’s a job. Gets up at 4am and gets home at 2 just like dayshift. All the old guys down on the beach are the same way, it’s like shift work for them.
Your 20's are for learning, your 30's are for earning.
Right on @batman. Men either strive for goals, or wither and die. It does not matter whether his goal is hitting the fishing spots before dawn, or clawing his way to the top of the corporate promotion ladder.
Set goals and strive for them. Win or lose does not matter. What matters is striving.
Let me add a shout out for self improvement too, no sense in getting stuck in a rut.

I think this really depends on what type of man you are and what type of work you have done thru life. For myself, my job is very physical and I work in all of mother natures elements. The bitter cold and searing heat. So when I shut it down I want it to be for good. Ideally I would like to play golf twice a week, own a modest racehorse, sail from time to time and play three card poker at an Indian casino. Retirement is not just about financial planning but lifestyle planning as well. More than one hobby is a must. A couple of close and reliable friends will help too. And remember there will always be some form of work to be done.

My old man retired when he was 65, and continued until to (full time) work till he was 72. Has a brand new(ish) truck that’s paid for and will outlive him and a new(ish) car for my mum (also now retired) that will do the same (He is 10 years her senior). Also my son has more money in his bank account than I do (from grandpa). So f~~~ing “Go Dad!”. At 74 and “retired, retired” he still works a garden, property maintenance, helps his (5) kids on their projects, hunts (Though he admits he just uses it for a reason to walk into the middle of the woods and take a nap, until a deer walks up to him and practically pulls the trigger for him), and much much more. Guy works harder at 74 than I ever will. I think if he stops, he’ll die, of boredom.

I have been retired for 13 years and they have been the best years of my life. Men are so programmed and conditioned to work, work, work. I never identified with my job or work. I enjoyed the work while at it, but when it was done, I had no problem leaving it, mainly because of the problem people associated with it. Now I can avoid those problem people and enjoy life. I have never had a problem finding things to do that I enjoy.

Anonymous42RETIREMENT IS A MYTH
I completely agree, it should be called old age relief.
People don’t retire, their bodies retire then buried 6 ft deep!
I love seeing old people skiing, sure they’re not ripping lines and launching air, but never the less they’re on the mountain enjoying the scenery and taking it easy, Some by my estimates in their 80s’.
Snowmobiling one time, met a hot chili pepper of a woman with an awesome personality! We chatted with her for over an hour, we were in Calvin Coolidge state park in the middle of nowhere at an abandoned work camp from the 30s’, she told us allot about the area’s history and how women have changed for the worse, we were all single men telling her of our nightmare stories and how being single allowed us the freedom to even be here talking to her, she drove off with one of Yamaha’s smallest sleds, she looked like a child, sled was covered in “flair”, bumper stickers, tassels, it even had a bicycle horn. She was happy inside and you could sense it, I’ll never forget that 70 yo woman on a child’s snowmobile in the middle of nowhere, she sure as f~~~ wasn’t retiring any time soon!
Sorry for being wordy, when I start I have to tell the story…
She was either an angle or a Unicorn, they’re to similar for me to differentiate…
NAWALH……I think the key is to keep busy,I’ve always been physical so my ‘retirement’ would include this.
Even if that meant volunteering as a porter in a
hospital or something like that. This one guy I work with is 70yrs old,has his own
plumbing company and still goes to work everyday! This is one of the major differences between the sexes,
women will and do enjoy sitting around and not doing much where most men have to be active at some level. That could be the key to men living longer too,
the ‘tough old bastards’ that just keep going,
they don’t fall into the trap of doing nothing
like their women.Lifes a bitch, but you don't have to marry one!
When I was mountain biking last week, a tiny old man, at least 75 years old, parked next to me while I was getting my bike ready. He was one of those shrunken old guys who looked like a stump: a torso with a head, arms and legs glued to it.
He asked me about the trail condition while pulling his own bike from his mini van. It was a high-end, full suspension bike like mine. He was super nice, and we talked for a while until I was ready to roll down the trail.
This trail is 13 miles long, hilly, and not for novices. I had about a ten minute head start on him and thought I’d never see him again until I got back to the parking lot. Wrong! When I was taking a break near the end of the trail, drinking some water and letting the burn in my thighs fade, stumpy comes flying past me with a big ol’ smile on his face and barely breaking a sweat!
That’s the guy I want to be when I reach that age.

Yes I agree that we’re conditioned to work, work, work, and some people take that too far. It’s all about finding work that interests you/ challenges you/ drives you.
I make sure to take plenty of time for hobbies. It’s all about work-life balance. I’m only 29 so I suppose if I was in my 70’s I’d be more open to sitting around waiting to die.
Not my property... Not my problem
Over in Japan they have no concept of retirement.
Instead they have something called an Ikigai, which roughly translates into “reason to wake up”

I’ve noticed this a lot as well. Men lived to go to work, that was their point in life, at least to them. Even if they were blue pill. So they usually get really big into something. A lot of guys get into gardening and lawn care. They focus all their time and energy on that where they would have put all the energy into work previously.
However, I don’t see this as a problem for myself or most mgtow men in general. Hell I have plenty of hobbies right now, and the reason I live is to do those hobbies. I don’t live to go punch in at work. And once work is done and over, I have plenty of hobbies to pick up. So I’m ahead of the curve, as are many MGTOWs out there.

I’m looking at extremely early retirement here in less than 5 years. If I work it will because I want to and I will only work jobs I want to work. I plan on drinking a lot of iced tea.
Don't stick your dick into anyone you aren't willing to put up with for eighteen years and nine months.
Apparently I am semi-retired.
I was medically retired out of the army 10 years ago.
I then started in trucking/warehousing jobs. I want to pay as much off as I can, and get a large down payment for an acreage to officially retire/hunt on.
It would take a lot longer with just my pension and besides…
I like money, what can I say. There was a time in my life when I gave a fuck. Now you have to pay ME for it

I’m glad I took a sort-of retirement back when I was 30. The reality of retirement was quite different from the fantasy. It only lasted six month because I just didn’t plan it well enough and made some bad decisions. Plus part of me needed some constructive routine between the beaches, the parties, the trips, the strippers, and the celebrities. Still it was one of the best times of my life.
What I did learn was that most people don’t know what retirement looks like until they actually take it out for a spin. So, I recommend testing your retirement fantasy against reality, on a much smaller scale, like two months.
I also spent time and spoke with a lot of retirees. I still do today, because their perspective is invaluable. The collective feedback was that the younger you can downshift but focus on what’s really important to you, the better.
They also reminded me that I shouldn’t assume that I’ll be able to do all the things I want to do at 65, just because I want to or have the money. Your health may not want to cooperate. So, do them now, while you can. Get to the essence of what you really want to do with your life, and start today.
