Potiphar’s Wife — This is a story about Josesph, who was a slave and started working for the palace. A high-ranking Egyptian woman fell for him and tried several times to get him to cheat on her husband, with her. Finally, enraged by his several refusals to jump into bed with her, she accused him of attempted rape and had him thrown into prison. He lost his job, reputation, and life. In the end though, after Joseph’s release, he became one of the most powerful men in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh.

Take note of verse 11. That was his mistake. These same principals are applied by men in the office today and the same thing happens to the man that makes this mistake. Be careful fellas.

To me that translated into. I would sleep with you because I don’t care about my wife, but God tells me it is a sin against him so I wont. So in other words he wasn’t faithful or loyal. He was fearful of gods wrath and allowed that to dictate his actions.

But that’s the thing about the bible. Its vagueness leaves a lot for translation

I don’t see that at all. It more sounds like he doesn’t want to disappoint his boss… and he follows up to solidify the thought that God would not be happy if he f~~~ed his bosses wife. Which seems pretty logical and honest. Not so much an appeasement of God. It more sounds like he was attracted to her and he had to talk himself down. Like most logical men would have to do in the same situation. If a sexy curvy women was hitting on you all day every day at work it would be very difficult to say no, even to just a pump and dump.

“Most likely” That’s why I posted the entire chapter. If you want to get context of the story you will have to read it.

Definitely sound advice. To her, her ego and pride were attacked each time Joseph said no. She could’t take it anymore and finally did something emotional and crazy to get back at him. Joseph didn’t realize what was happening and walked right into the trap.

Joseph was a great biblical character, hard working, loyal, smart, wasn’t tempted by a hoe, and forgiving even to his brothers who hated him so much. One of my favourite stories in the OT. Big old red pill in there too. A man of honour.

Yeah Joseph had a rough run in his early years. Being sold by his own family. Them lying to his father. Very rough going man. I can’t imagine that. I know what abandonment is like but not being sold by your own. Each time Joseph tried to do right he got screwed by the system and people.

Each time you chose to do what the system wants, everyones happy and you go along.

That’s the under story here too. If Joseph would have just had sex with her I bet he wouldn’t have gone to jail. He probably would have been spoiled by her richness and they might have even killed her husband and he take his place. He could have gotten sex and been rewarded in the system with riches and titles. Those are the real tough decisions. The ones that can benefit you in a shallow way. What was his reward for being morally strong? Jail!

If Joseph had gave in to lust – no Moses, Exodus and the settling in Canaan. No judges, Kings, prophets, Jesus.

Women can and WILL try this kind of s~~~ nowadays, whether or not you marry, date or cohabitate. I’m not even sure if gay men are even safe.

Its actually more relevant as this society seems to be entering another moral panic/witchhunt, this time about sexual harassment.

No doubt! It even mentions his mistake. Going to the “office” when no men where there. Notice it didn’t say women! Or people! Women will often lie together. It showed the exact moment he made the mistake and she caught him. Very dangerous and as far as your life and job go, very critical thing to not over look. Joseph had no idea as he walked in but he did notice no one else there prior to the event happening but didn’t get out in time.

I am not better than thou or anyone for that matter. I will prove a spiritual enlightenment eventually in a court setting.
