People Watching….

I was doing a lil people watching in the lobby of the gym the other day. It’s a large fitness center that has a rather large clientele. It was getting to be near dinner time, and I was just taking a lil break after my workout watching the members come and go.

I noticed this 40 something couple that looked like they were both pathetically trying to look 10 years younger and doing their best to present their ‘Public Show of Affection”. Really pretty SAD….40 something couple both going on 15…LOL Better HIM than ME…

I couldn’t help but notice TWO 20 something couples coming in with their kids in tow. This gym offers child care for the lucky couples. These were YOUNG Men both with 2 -3 children each. The men were both on the slim side of life while their lil cupcakes looked like overstuffed burritos. It made me wonder if these Young Men were the baby daddies of each or any of these kids that they were toting along.

Isn’t it NICE to NEVER have ANY OF THIS TYPE OF CRAP in YOUR LIFE EVER AGAIN????

So wonderfully nice, yes it is. I appreciate every moment of every evening when I’m home alone.

Last night, I was making the best baked ziti I’ve ever made with lots of meaty sauce and lots of gooey stringy cheese………all alone with no one to get in my way in the kitchen. Other than the bubbling of the sauce and the train in the distance, it was complete silence. It was great and since I live alone, the leftovers will last and last.

When I was married, I despised the thought of going home because she was there. Now, because I have such a great, peaceful home life, work is less stressful, because no matter what happens at work during the day, I know that when I get home, everything will be wonderful in my sanctuary with no one there to bother me.

It is great knowing that I’ll never have any of that crap in my life again.

I’m not following what’s sad here. 40 something’s acting youthful? Was it the PDA?

I’m 47 and not really understanding the act your age ideal. I mean, I don’t want to pretend I’m not 47, but I do think I should avoid the gym or not do things I enjoy doing just because of my age.

As far as people watching, I find myself reversing it sometimes. Those people I’m watching are also watching me. Surely making stereo typical assumptions about who I am and what my life is about, and almost surely incorrect about it.

I think the reason why 40-something people are traditionally not expected to have PDA’s is because traditionally if you are like 45, you are likely to have been married 20+ years and you no longer have any strong affection for your spouse.

Thus, a long tradition of seeing most 40-something people display no PDA’s results in it being jarring when you do see it.

You know , its alot better that they were both around the same age.
