I live in a middle to upper middle income suburb in the Midwest. Due to the Freedom of Information Act – I was able to look up the salaries of some of our local village employees. One of them, my former neighbor, is basically a 9 -5 – 40 hour per week secretary. To my amazement, this woman’s base salary was approaching the mid 70’s and that is not including other benefits. I work for a very large BioTech company staffed by a healthy amount of STEM graduates and similar. The same salary this fat cow takes in for sitting on her enormous ass publishing village updates, with fully paid health insurance and lifetime security – we have engineers making the same or less with masters and PhD degrees.
The village also, I am guessing, has to provide her with a ridiculous “accommodation” extra large chair so she can fit her ever expanding butt in it. Meantime, I work 60 – 70 hours per week, have a science degree, 30 years in the industry and make nearly 20K less than this whale. You go girl! Next time I hear about pay inequality I will puke. You know that saying: “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em?”
It applies here too.
Thats what i did… and it was the second best decision I made (after ditching the Dependopotamus). In less than 5 years time I am making $74k… With minimal effort- and absolutely ZERO stress. I have a STEM BS and a high tolerance for dealing with retards on a daily basis.
Healthcare? Check.
Job security? Check.
Retirement? Check.Don’t knock it till you try it.

Interesting story, thanks for sharing. Useless bureaucrats who push papers and are so full of themselves that they think they provide this invaluable service and wield tremendous power always disgusted me.
Of course not every public servant is like that – there are some people who don’t get corrupted by power, but absolute power corrupts the most weak-minded people absolutely.
I’m curious – how did you file the request and what was the purpose?
proud carrier of the 'why?' chromosome
Russky – the village Website publishes salary of all employees – so anyone can anonymously log on and get the info!
the paper pushers are definitely overpaid.
some public servants are not and deserve more salary.
what about the people who put out your house fire?
the people who rescue you from the car accident and perform c.p.r.
the people who save lives for a living…
not some office fattie who has three lunches delivered to a desk everyday.
sanitation makes good money , but they really earn it.
correction officers make good money, the inmates plot to harm them constantly…i could never do that job, too stressful.
but to sit on your ass all day and get paid well…………
nice work if you can get it i guess.Hitman – good point! I agree police, fire and the like get my utmost respect – but office Buffaloes with minimal skills like I describe don’t deserve to get paid as much as a peace officer on the beat!
So who’s pole did she wax to get a salary that high for a typing job?

We do? After 10 years I’m still shy of 40k a year…when do I start seeing the “Good money”?

Hitman – good point!
thank you sir .
