I always enjoyed Springsteen’s old school work up through Born In the USA album, and then some of his contributions up through the early 90’s as well even though some of it became a lil to pop rock/sell out, but there was still some Ole Bruce Bleeding Through.

Unfortunately, I can’t really say that I can appreciate much of ANYTHING that he has recorded in about the past 25 plus years. I have tried listening to some of it, but it’s all just kinda lost on me. Unfortunately, as time passed he just became rich, famous, crazy, and lost what had made him so good before he became “famous”. He lost that gritty feel that transcended his music. He could no longer connect that feeling of the poor average Joe trying to make his way in the good ole USA.

Some of my favorite albums are his first 6:

    -Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.
    Released: January 5, 1973

-The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle
    Released: November 11, 1973

    -Born to Run
    Released: August 25, 1975

-Darkness on the Edge of Town
    Released: June 2, 1978

    -The River
    Released: October 17, 1980-

    -Nebraska
    Released: September 30, 1982

Those days at a feel to them. I noticed the same with Korn. It took a long time for them to get a FEW songs had that same gritty emotion in them. The only Bands that I know that still put out great albums are Depeche Mode. From Early on to later, there catalog just keeps getting better. Same with NIN.

There are so many bands out there that just lost what made them great. Its just time really. You can only have so many great moments in your life.

But the memories? They live on forever.

    This is from 1995.

We are NEVER going to get Billy Corgan like that again. Ever.

Kurt is gone now. But I think he knew it too. You never get to relive those great moments..

We all knew it was coming to the end after MTV did this. We could all feel it.

TIME goes by. But it is what it all means to us in the end.

You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home

Never subscribed to the “Bruce is the Boss” mantra. That said, his early stuff was pure, went to college with a guy from the Jersey Shore who turned me on to all those bands from the Fast Lane, Stone Pony, etc. Robert Gordon, Wendy O and the Plasmatics, a whole host of classic rock tipping to new wave.

Years later someone gave me a bootleg of a late 70’s show he did in the Carolinas. Labeled “Oh Boy” but not sure if that was a real title. Probably four hours of some of the greatest live rock I ever heard. Loved it.

Then Nebraska came out – I went to my first Bruce show. He had jettisoned the E Street Band for this tour, it was probably the most depressing show I ever saw next to the first Dead show without Jerry. I left before the encores.

Now he is a Broadway star at $1,000 a seat.

    No thanks.

Wendy O and the Plasmatics….Now that’s a different cup of tea for ya!!! What a tragic end to her life….

I’m not really sure WHY a 70 year old living legend that has a net worth of $500 million would want to continue to sell HIMSELF out, but I think that he has come so far from his roots that he can’t even see what he has become, and how much he no longer has to offer.

I really thought there were gonna be some Kung Fu movies…

    lol

But this has happened so many times: an artist or band changes his/their sound, people don’t like it, artist tries to get the old sound back… but it sounds empty.

System Of A Down disbanded a while ago, now it’s almost unbearable to listen to live. The singer did a solo project where he uses only his opera clean voice, so now when he sings SOAD he doesn’t scream anymore. There’s something MAJORLY missing.

    I could go on, but yeah… I won’t.
