After the current project at work, I plan to visit Rome for 5-7 days.
I would love to get some tips from people who were there

    1. I’m a history fan – so a major part of it would be about visiting historical sites

    2. I like good food, not too much carb though and I love listening to good music while I’m eating

    3. I also like peace and quiet from time to time, so if you know of a good place to just sit on top of a mountain and reflect that would be great.

Plan your trip in advance. Watch your wallet… there’s pickpockets. Consider traveling during the shoulder travel season, like late October . The weather is still nice and there’s not a lot of tourists . Not to shill for this website, but I used hotels.com and got a decent hotel for about $100 per night. Get the Rome Pass, you can see a lot of great museums for not too much money. Get to the Coliseum and the Vatican early to avoid the crowds. It doesn’t your trip doesn’t have to be expensive; mine wasn’t and had a great time. If you want to reflect there is a large park right outside the walls of Rome. There are many relatively inexpensive restaurants that you can eat at if you look around. Relax and have a great time!

We just don't realize life's most significant events while they're happening. Back then, I thought, "Well, there'll be other days". I didn't realize that that was the only day. - "Moonlight" Graham

JB Brooks is right. If you can go during off season. May be cooler but you will not have to fight the tourist crowds as much. (they will still be there but not as many.) Oh and watch out for the migrant hustle. They will get in your face to sell you touristy crap and harrass you until you give them money so they go away and leave you in peace. (which was the plan)
