After the French Revolution made the “rights of man” they tore it down, with the those in charge, the Committee for Public Safety (yes, that is what they called themselves), creating a campaign of tyranny called “the terror” and later “the great terror”. A lot of innocent people died. And this is where BS political correctness started.

Among other things, the Committee tried to erase history, ban religion and cultures that the Committee did not like. The Committee even replace the calendar. Along with banning the terms mister and madam. Instead, everyone, of both genders had to call each other, “citizen”.

And anyone even suspected of stepping out of line was executed in a variety of ways, not just with the guillotine. There were also mass executions. Such as people chained inside of barges, with the barges then sunk in the rivers, killing the victims.

Should these feminists be modeling themselves after the French Revolution. If I lived in France, I would be very worried.

In the old days many cities also dumped their sewage into the nearest body of water and probably a whole host of other toxic chemicals until the practice was banned sometime in the early-mid 20th century. The sewage though degraded probably remains at the bottom as a sludge.

@rennie, you don’t have to tell me, in Western Mass, Pittsfield, GE dumped untold tonnage of PCB (polychlorinated biphenyls) into the Housatonic river, it’s a supper fund site my friend worked on, they’ve been pumping steam into the ground 24/7/ 356 and capturing the oil for decades! I’m fortunate to live in an upper watershed that hasn’t seen industry or chemical farming, I’m tapped into an aquifer that’s not calcium, lime, or rust, my water is mild alkali and makes the best damn coffee around! Everyone that ever drank my water said it was delicious! No odors, or funky taste, and only 50 ppm of minerals. It sure beats drinking tannery water!
