    Gentlemen,

I just found this rather bizarre article, but I got me thinking and that’s why I am sharing with you:

Why Women Had Better Sex Under Socialism

When Americans think of Communism in Eastern Europe, they imagine travel restrictions, bleak landscapes of gray concrete, miserable men and women languishing in long lines to shop in empty markets and security services snooping on the private lives of citizens. While much of this was true, our collective stereotype of Communist life does not tell the whole story.

Some might remember that Eastern bloc women enjoyed many rights and privileges unknown in liberal democracies at the time, including major state investments in their education and training, their full incorporation into the labor force, generous maternity leave allowances and guaranteed free child care. But there’s one advantage that has received little attention: Women under Communism enjoyed more sexual pleasure.

A comparative sociological study of East and West Germans conducted after reunification in 1990 found that Eastern women had twice as many orgasms as Western women. Researchers marveled at this disparity in reported sexual satisfaction, especially since East German women suffered from the notorious double burden of formal employment and housework. In contrast, postwar West German women had stayed home and enjoyed all the labor-saving devices produced by the roaring capitalist economy. But they had less sex, and less satisfying sex, than women who had to line up for toilet paper.

How to account for this facet of life behind the Iron Curtain?

Consider Ana Durcheva from Bulgaria, who was 65 when I first met her in 2011. Having lived her first 43 years under Communism, she often complained that the new free market hindered Bulgarians’ ability to develop healthy amorous relationships.

“Sure, some things were bad during that time, but my life was full of romance,” she said. “After my divorce, I had my job and my salary, and I didn’t need a man to support me. I could do as I pleased.”

Ms. Durcheva was a single mother for many years, but she insisted that her life before 1989 was more gratifying than the stressful existence of her daughter, who was born in the late 1970s.

“All she does is work and work,” Ms. Durcheva told me in 2013, “and when she comes home at night she is too tired to be with her husband. But it doesn’t matter, because he is tired, too. They sit together in front of the television like zombies. When I was her age, we had much more fun.”

Last year in Jena, a university town in the former East Germany, I spoke with a recently married 30-something named Daniela Gruber. Her own mother — born and raised under the Communist system — was putting pressure on Ms. Gruber to have a baby.

“She doesn’t understand how much harder it is now — it was so easy for women before the Wall fell,” she told me, referring to the dismantling of the Berlin Wall in 1989. “They had kindergartens and crèches, and they could take maternity leave and have their jobs held for them. I work contract to contract, and don’t have time to get pregnant.”

This generational divide between daughters and mothers who reached adulthood on either side of 1989 supports the idea that women had more fulfilling lives during the Communist era. And they owed this quality of life, in part, to the fact that these regimes saw women’s emancipation as central to advanced “scientific socialist” societies, as they saw themselves.

Although East European Communist states needed women’s labor to realize their programs for rapid industrialization after World War II, the ideological foundation for women’s equality with men was laid by August Bebel and Friedrich Engels in the 19th century. After the Bolshevik takeover, Vladimir Lenin and Aleksandra Kollontai enabled a sexual revolution in the early years of the Soviet Union, with Kollontai arguing that love should be freed from economic considerations.

The Soviets extended full suffrage to women in 1917, three years before the United States did. The Bolsheviks also liberalized divorce laws, guaranteed reproductive rights and attempted to socialize domestic labor by investing in public laundries and people’s canteens. Women were mobilized into the labor force and became financially untethered from men.

In Central Asia in the 1920s, Russian women crusaded for the liberation of Muslim women. This top-down campaign met a violent backlash from local patriarchs not keen to see their sisters, wives and daughters freed from the shackles of tradition.

In the 1930s, Joseph Stalin reversed much of the Soviet Union’s early progress in women’s rights — outlawing abortion and promoting the nuclear family. However, the acute male labor shortages that followed World War II spurred other Communist governments to push forward with various programs for women’s emancipation, including state-sponsored research on the mysteries of female sexuality. Most Eastern European women could not travel to the West or read a free press, but scientific socialism did come with some benefits.

“As early as 1952, Czechoslovak sexologists started doing research on the female orgasm, and in 1961 they held a conference solely devoted to the topic,” Katerina Liskova, a professor at Masaryk University in the Czech Republic, told me. “They focused on the importance of the equality between men and women as a core component of female pleasure. Some even argued that men need to share housework and child rearing, otherwise there would be no good sex.”

Agnieszka Koscianska, an associate professor of anthropology at the University of Warsaw, told me that pre-1989 Polish sexologists “didn’t limit sex to bodily experiences and stressed the importance of social and cultural contexts for sexual pleasure.” It was state socialism’s answer to work-life balance: “Even the best stimulation, they argued, will not help to achieve pleasure if a woman is stressed or overworked, worried about her future and financial stability.”

In all the Warsaw Pact countries, the imposition of one-party rule precipitated a sweeping overhaul of laws regarding the family. Communists invested major resources in the education and training of women and in guaranteeing their employment. State-run women’s committees sought to re-educate boys to accept girls as full comrades, and they attempted to convince their compatriots that male chauvinism was a remnant of the pre-socialist past.

Although gender wage disparities and labor segregation persisted, and although the Communists never fully reformed domestic patriarchy, Communist women enjoyed a degree of self-sufficiency that few Western women could have imagined. Eastern bloc women did not need to marry, or have sex, for money. The socialist state met their basic needs and countries such as Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and East Germany committed extra resources to support single mothers, divorcées and widows. With the noted exceptions of Romania, Albania and Stalin’s Soviet Union, most Eastern European countries guaranteed access to sex education and abortion. This reduced the social costs of accidental pregnancy and lowered the opportunity costs of becoming a mother.

Some liberal feminists in the West grudgingly acknowledged those accomplishments but were critical of the achievements of state socialism because they did not emerge from independent women’s movements, but represented a type of emancipation from above. Many academic feminists today celebrate choice but also embrace a cultural relativism dictated by the imperatives of intersectionality. Any top-down political program that seeks to impose a universalist set of values like equal rights for women is seriously out of fashion.

The result, unfortunately, has been that many of the advances of women’s liberation in the former Warsaw Pact countries have been lost or reversed. Ms. Durcheva’s adult daughter and the younger Ms. Gruber now struggle to resolve the work-life problems that Communist governments had once solved for their mothers.

“The Republic gave me my freedom,” Ms. Durcheva once told me, referring to the People’s Republic of Bulgaria. “Democracy took some of that freedom away.”

As for Ms. Gruber, she has no illusions about the brutalities of East German Communism; she just wishes “things weren’t so much harder now.”

Because they championed sexual equality — at work, at home and in the bedroom — and were willing to enforce it, Communist women who occupied positions in the state apparatus could be called cultural imperialists. But the liberation they imposed radically transformed millions of lives across the globe, including those of many women who still walk among us as the mothers and grandmothers of adults in the now democratic member states of the European Union. Those comrades’ insistence on government intervention may seem heavy-handed to our postmodern sensibilities, but sometimes necessary social change — which soon comes to be seen as the natural order of things — needs an emancipation proclamation from above.

Yes, I noticed when I was there on vacation. Even 14 years old girls came to the beaches to pick up foreigners after school. At this time I suspected poverty, but after thinking about it I decline it the main reason. They didn’t beg like most people would do in such a situation. They said clearly they want to have fun and money and they picked a guy three times her age, because of the money part, I guess.
I also grew up in socialism, Eastern Germany to be precise. I was 18 when it collapsed. Even at this age I was totally fed up with all lies and pressure of conformity. I guess it’s like any disease. One starts to develop an immunity when exposed early in life and if not you are much more likely to get infected when exposed.

What got me thinking about this article are my experiences during my childhood and teen years. Germany is much more open to nudity than for instance the USA. Eastern Germany was even more so. We had a shared locker room for boys and girls during swimming classes in elementary school for instance and nobody didn’t mind. Girls much more initiated things, like playing doctor as kids or having sex as teens. When I moved to Western Germany for University in 1991 I was surprised how naive, inexperienced and shy western girls was, also the German girls.
I did not understand it back than and felt sorry for the westerners, but today I understand better. Somehow the whole autocratic society of socialist countries is what the female brain seems to like and makes it drive. They do not have any responsibility, because they are getting told what to do. There are strict rules in society what you can and have to do, but no “natural rules” like if you don’t work you don’t have food on the table. Women want a provider, resources etc and the socialist society gives it to them. They don’t need to find a husband to extract resources, the government provides it. You can read this in the article above. That’s what makes them happy. Not a new idea, but interesting to see it validated from this rather unexpected direction.

I had a hard time trying to make sense of the article, but I thank Big Boy for boiling it down.
No responsibility turned them into self indulgent pigs.
Communism is taught as an ideology to impressionable, idealistic young students, but the truth is it doesn’t work. Not in the real world.
Stalin murdered 30 million of his own people and so it goes.
Also,I wonder about the person who wrote the article. And why at this time. Overall its a rubber stamp for a ” let’s f~~~ whoever we want when we want & tough s~~~ about who covers the cost of our sex lives ”
    Thank you for post

The number of abortions in socialist countries was way higher than the west. And in a few places (china) forced. Not a great selling point for socialism imo.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

I also believe that most women, or at least higher proportion than in men gravitate towards communism/socialism mindset. Even when in completely liberal country women will act like a bee in a hive, always calibrating with the hive, what hive thinks, what is fashion, post to social media for hive acceptance, you are not dating her but her hive, etc.

Men, freedom is more common with us.

All Cuban try to catch an foreigner to get the f~~~ out.

Been there during that time and i can only agree, it is crazy there, but i cant really blame them for trying to get away. Still pretty much red pill experience.

Yes, Communism and Feminism are one and the same. The Communists believe in the Beehive society as a perfect Utopia. This is very appealing to women because they have the Herd mentality and use “Group Think” as a default. Men are individualistic and do not do well in a Communist system. Communism absolutely caters to the women and treats them like the children that they are. It also treats, Men like children and we resent that. Men prefer Self-Reliance and the Freedom that it brings. Two completely different strategies. Therefore, the Feminist Utopia is Communism and Men are the enemy of that system.

I never really understood how communism got such a grand following amongst a group of people who are supposedly “intelligent”… students and suchlike. You swap a system where a few people at the top earn a disproportionate amount of money and whereby you have a middle class that earn less (but still have what they need for a good standard of living) for a system where a few people at the top earn a disproportionate amount of money and whereby you may actually never have any freedom to progress or vent your anger when things don’t go to plan.
    Communist ideals and freedom….

    ^ communist utopia indeed.

Eh, I see the similarities, but also vast differences. Communism is much more organized and more closely resembles actual equality, in theory anyway. Feminism claims to strive for equality, but you cannot achieve equality when you only consider the perspective of one gender.

I don’t have a big problem with the theory of communism, it just fails because it does not factor in human nature. It requires someone to have absolute power, which inevitably leads to corruption. It also assumes that a person will continue to work for the good of whole, when there is no individual benefit to them.

I think we are starting to see the socialistic efforts fall in the US now for the very same reasons. The US government is gaining more and more control, and becoming more and more corrupt at the same time. At the same time, we see large swaths of the population wanting equality while not realizing that they are not pulling their own weight, while those that do pull weight are start to refuse since there is no benefit to them.

    Ok. Then do it.

I always love the “socialist” bulls~~~ about how socialism is good because we need roads.

Easiest way to see the lie in that argument is to ask yourself a simple question: which is more consistently funded, roads or entitlements? And if roads and bridges are so important, why are so many falling apart while the money for tolls is put into a general fund where it can be shifted sideways into entitlements?

All my life I've had doubts about who I am, where I belonged. Now I'm like the arrow that springs from the bow. No hesitation, no doubts. The path is clear. And what are you? Alive. Everything else is negotiable. Women have rights; men have responsibilities; MGTOW have freedom. Marriage is for chumps. If someone stands in the way of true justice, you simply walk up behind them and stab them in the heart-R'as al Ghul.

I never really understood how communism got such a grand following amongst a group of people who are supposedly “intelligent”… students and suchlike.

Communism was funded by the west. Communism was then promoted by many different western think tanks and foundations. It was promoted from the Top Down from the Power Elite. It did not get a large following on its own, it was “marketed” to the masses using all the techniques of modern day advertising.

Feminism is very much a product of Communist thought. Even in “Plato’s Republic” he talks about all women being held in common. Roughly translated that means that women ride the c~~~ carousel and endlessly produce little bastards that get raised up in State run institutions. The State replaces the father figure.

An essential part of communism is the elimination of the family unit. Once the family is gone, the State has complete control over every child in the School System. The School system has the total authority to put the children on any number of different drugs to correct their thoughts. Boys are diagnosed as nothing more than “defective girls.” Group think is promoted and individual thought is eliminated. It is now possible to complete all the goals of communism by simply indoctrinating the youth.

Feminism is a tool. A means to and end, for communists to gain control. You can see how the State run facilities for boys in East Germany were designed to break their spirit. Gargamel did a post on this topic. Let me see if I can find it…

Oppressive governments sustained their power because women turned in their men

Indeed, that’s one goal of communism. They call it “create the new human”. As I explained above I grew up in such a scenario and I tell you a secret: It simply does not work. The inconsistency of the ideology is too big to be covered, that’s why everything in a communist society ends up in repression. This is also true for right wing societies, by the way. I heard a lot people talking about the society during the Nazi era. Different signs, same problems and inconsistencies. It will be this way as long as an ideology claims to solve problems by changing the human nature.
George Orwell wrote a lot about this and I recommend reading it. Unfortunately he is reduced today to his vision of an surveillance society. He wrote much more about the internal mechanics of totalitarian societies and that’s the most interesting thing of his work. He wrote it under the impression of Nazi Germany and for this reason alone he should be cherished by the later socialist and anti-nazi governments of Eastern Europe. The opposite, all of his writings was completely banned, because the resemblance of both societies was too obvious.

From my experiences I can tell you, no matter what the teacher tells in front of the class, kids doubt it and if they find the smallest flaw in her argument, they will notice and stop believing it. Kids also hear their parents and other adults talking. When I started school Germany had already more than 45 years of totalitarian education, that’s more or less three generations and it still didn’t work, but I can tell you they tried hard ti influence peoples way of thinking from early childhood on. Back than we had not a single true believer in our class I can remember. All we did was shut up because of the punishments following opposition.
Feminism does the same. It’s an ideology claiming to create a better world by changing humans nature. Just like the Nazis or Commies a small “elite” claims to know what’s best and how to solve all problems. Like in any dictatorship you have 10% pro, 10% contra and 80% somehow ignorant. As long as the 80% keep quiet the dictatorship works. It’s the 80% you have to reach and convince them of their power.
