Oscar Pistorius has been stitched up like a f~~~ing kipper by the South African courts.
It has just been announced that Pistorious has had his appeal against a murder verdict dismissed without being heard. There are no more legal avenues for him to pursue. You may recall he was accused of murdering his girlfriend but in the original trail was found not guilty of murder but guilty of culpable homicide. This was overturned on appeal and a murder verdict handed down. Subsequently he sort leave to appeal and this has been rejected, he isn’t even going to be allowed to appeal the murder verdict.
Now he is f~~~ed. A custodial sentence in South Africa is more or less a death sentence. Unless you are held in solitary confinement you will be infected by AIDS very quickly and without the proper care and medication you will be dead within a few years. That isn’t my opinion, that is the opinion of a South African law professor of my acquaintance.
This verdict is politically motivated, he is a pale male in South Africa, and a famous one at that so he had to be made an example of.
In any civilised country the case would never have reached court. Critical evidence ( the bathroom door )was removed from the crime scene without being properly logged only to turn up propped against a wall in some ones office several days later. The crime scene was tampered with, items of furniture were moved around and Mr Pisorious’ personal property was stolen by a police officer. You could not make this s~~~ up, any half decent lawyer would have had the case dismissed before lunch and would be on the golf course all afternoon.
Then we come to his actual defense, that he believed his home had been invaded and he shot in self defense. You will probably be aware that home invasions are not exactly rare in South Africa, even on a supposed secure and gated community. Very often in such circumstances it is the security guards themselves who are to blame.
It is less well known however that crime is often motivated, at least in part by much darker incentives than stealing a rich guys stuff. We are talking black magic here. The robbers will often visit a black sangoma or witch doctor who will bless the thieves and their undertaking, for a price. Often the price is “muti”, human body parts to be used in black magic rituals. The more famous or powerful you are, the more valuable your muti will be, and thus the more likely the thieves will be to take it. I’m not making this s~~~ up, I lived in Cape Town for a year and was married to a white South African. White South Africans are f~~~ing terrified of the blacks, and with very good reason. Its reasonable to assume Oscar Pistorious would have been just as terrified and that his terror ( well founded ) drove him to open fire on someone he identified as a real threat to his life. It is an argument that is at least worth a reasonable doubt, especially as there was not a scrap of evidence to the contrary.
But this is the corrupt and inept South African legal system we are talking about here, where evidence counts for nothing, where you don’t get a trail by jury, where reasonable doubt does not count for anything.
He has been f~~~ed, good and proper. Poor c~~~….
