I’ve been using that word frequently since I became hard core red pill. What I’ve noticed is that when you tell people no the next question is “why not”? I always answer with the same phrase-“Because it doesn’t benefit me in the least. It benefits everybody else involved BUT ME”. There has never been a counter offer. Just blank stares. I never hear from them again which tells me they had no intention of bargaining.

Recently at my job I was proposed one of those “one-sided” offers. I told them no and that they needed to give me something in return if I was to even consider it. It’s been almost 3 weeks and it has never been brought up again. At least it doesn’t cause temper tantrums like it does with my ex. Do people think they don’t have to offer anything anymore? If it’s a job I’m looking into they low-ball the wage and my immediate reaction is to smash it down their throat. If it is someone trying to sell you something it’s always at a price twice as much as it’s worth.

I’ve told projected places of employment that it would have to be at least 30% more than what they initially offered before I would consider it. All contact gets immediately cut off which is fine by me. I tell someone trying to sell a product or service that the price would have to come down 50% before we even talk about it again. All contact immediately is severed. Has it always been this way? What I can’t get over is the reaction when you flat-out tell them NO.

Business has always had budgets and profit margins that they have had to work within.

If you’re requesting 30% more compensation than they are offering then it’s not worth their time to talk to you any further because you’re too far apart between their budget parameters and your requests. As far as requesting 50 % off that’s not going to fly for the same reasons. They have no need to pursue because 50% is a HUGE discount for MOST Goods and Services.

So, in other words, I would have to say that it’s always been that way.

Most things -jobs and goods for sale are offered at a fair price in my experience. I would say probably 90% of goods and services, the other 10 % are just to avoid. There are a few things where people start with silly prices and can be bargained. These tend to be wherever there is a salesman involved. Salesmen are often (not always) paid to sell stuff for more than it would sell itself. I don’t regard them as good news in these cases, in the end you have to remember you are paying for the good or service and for the salesman’s wages. I would prefer to just buy the thing I wanted unless the salesman is really injecting value by helping me choose something I could not choose for myself.

Any customer who asks 50% discount will make me laugh when I get back in my car after a sharp polite exit. I will also be a bit cross. They have totally wasted my time. If they get me out to quote what is only ever a fair price and never marked up to then be bargained down and then tell me they want it for a silly price then they are living on planet crazy and selfish. Generally I do no discounts unless a customer can offer me a sensible reason for one -like they are broke and old or they can make the job easier for me to do. I offer good services that are oversubscribed even though they are not advertised, why fill a fairy with crap cheap work when it is generally full of good work already?

What’s p~~~ing me off lately is people making all these demands and offering nothing in return. When I ask for something in return they don’t know how to react. Are they that f~~~in stupid? My father used to say that certain crimes that make it obvious that someone is stupid should require instant sterilization. That way the stupid can’t breed anymore.

It isn’t really about how much the product cost or what you think it’s worth, willing to pay for it. That’s not how supply and demand work. What matters is what society as a whole is willing to pay for it. There is no reason to sell you something at 50% off when the seller knows another customer will walk through the door 5 minutes later, willing to pay full price.

The idea of a fair price, in most cases, is kind of nonsensical. In my opinion, the call for fair prices only comes into play when the government supports a monopoly, or when a vendor increases prices to take advantage of an emergency situation. Prescription drugs is a good example of the first case. Drug prices are notoriously high because the pharma company holds a patent on the drug, customers often have little choice in needing the product, costs are masked through insurance, and the pharma company lobbies government to help maintain their monopolistic hold on the market. It quite clear to see considering prices are usually much lower outside of the US, than inside, for the exact same drug.

The second case can be illustrated by a gas station dramatically raising it rates when people need to evacuate an area to a hurricane or something of that nature. Or if a grocery store raised their prices, a hardware store raised prices on storm cleanup equipment and materials. You could make the argument that this is perfectly fair though, as the prices are changing due to the drastic increase in demand, and people should counteract the arrangement by purchasing supplies during normal times instead of waiting for an emergency.
