Anonymous7Later today I am going window shopping for a new truck. The one I have is long in the tooth and I fear that something really expensive is about to break and leave me broke down in the middle of an Interstate.
And by expensive I mean it will cost more than the thing is worth to fix.My requirements:
1. 4WD
2. Regular cab. If I can only fit one or two more people I won’t get asked to ferry people around.
3. Regular bed length. I don’t need a f~~~ing boat.
4. Enough room behind the seat for a tool bucket and various odds and ends.I don’t want or need all the fancy bells and whistles. More importantly I don’t want to pay for them.
I would like to tap into the vast male wisdom here before I head out.
Anyone by a new truck recently?
What did you get and why?
Anonymous43trucks are awesome

Yes they are.
I briefly considered getting a Dodge Charger but figured I would just end up getting arrested or wrapped around a light pole.

Anonymous43wish granted
Ford Raptor
colorado zr2Its getting harder to find a 4wd regular cab. I do like the torque on the zr2 diesel.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning; it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion.

Thx Chir.
The Ford Raptor is a nice looking truck
Anonymous6I got an idea…
You get this.

I get this.

And we ride to Florida and go to one of those truck shows and win all the prizes. Anybody else wanna join??

That is a fine idea and those are nice looking trucks.
More than I want to spend though. On a serious note, the giant tires look cool but I really wish people would install flaps behind them.
More than once tires like that have kicked up a rock that bounced of my face.
Anonymous42I just saw a new Peter-Built! Sharp looking Truck! Has that 1950’s chrome look with a little Stephen Spielberg look!

LOL! The second one is the bomb (do the kids still say that?)

Anonymous6bomb diggity!!

Anonymous42It’s the BOMB! The thing that always impressed me about trucks and heavy equipment is power they have to do the work of a thousand men a minute at the touch and finesse of a one finger lever! Must be awesome flying an Airbus 380 with a joystick the size of you finger instead of clunky yoke and wheel in front of you!
All the new s~~~ has tiny little levers that you can cause a s~~~load of damage with!
The future: Airbus 780; smart phone satellite remote pilot accessible!
A terrorists worst nightmare come true!
Hijack the hijackers with remote hostile takeover!
Land at the nearest military installation and let those guys have a go at the terrorists! New rules, no trials, too messy.

Anonymous7Thanks for all the input and the lols this is what I decided on.
Dodge Ram 1500 Express Regular Cab 4×4.
5.7L V8 HEMI
Color doesn’t matter as long as it is NOT white.
A few of the upgrade packages like remote entry. Now it is just a matter of price.

Anonymous6It better be lifted. 4 inches if your conservative, 6 inches if your crazy. 8 inches of gas prices aren’t a problem for ya

Gas prices is not a problem for me as I work from home.
Mod my ride I reserve for my Harley. She gets the fancy upgrades.
Truck is just a truck.I will get better tires. I hate the pussy tires that come with.
Also, a rubber bed mat so s~~~ doesn’t slide around.Starting price for a new dodge 27k, add in the needed 4×4 ups the price to 32k that is the basic.
Lets see old dependable on its last legs. Rebuild the motor/trans/diff, replace all the shocks bushings. Upholstery shop for the interior. Old truck good as new, depending on wrench artist 18 to 20k
Have money up front to buy outright? Finance for years adds to the total cost.
Just looking at the other side of the coin. What kind of truck do you have?
Another option. If you are willing to be noticed. Type into craiglist 4×4 look for a 60’s truck that someone already rebuilt. Roll like a boss.
Another thing about craigslist, you will find people who made the mistake and need to get out from under a payment you can sometimes pick up an almost new truck buy just picking up the payment.mgtow is its own worst enemy- https://www.campusreform.org/

Anonymous7I won’t be financing.
I have been making ‘truck payments’ to myself for years just for this.Just to ask, what is the current?
