I am new to the site and I don’t know how many mgtow musicians there are, I am a Christian musician and writer.

Just after my divorce, my old digital piano sat in the corner for some weeks. I looked at it a number of times. Two months ago, I actually decided just to rock out to my (Christian) playlist in a no pressure way, and see how it went.

It was awesome! I never did forget the scales and theory I learned a very long time ago. So I’ve been playing every day, and I’m getting kind of addicted to the Rhodes sound, even though the Casio probably doesn’t reproduce it like the real thing. But I also like the Casio sound too.

So I bought some books, have been working on some things, and I’ve made great progress. I just thought for so long that I’d never make it, but I really like it. I’d be nice to find some kind of group or worship team or something. But I will wait until I’m a little further for that.

Men have hobbies. It doesn’t matter if it’s stamp collecting or dog training or falconry or whatever. The list is as endless as there are men. If you suddenly find yourself to be single, maybe this is the time. Every day is a step, every session a brick, and you will move toward bigger and better things. And for me, I want to merge my worship with God with my musical skills in the future. Exactly how that comes together, I am not completely certain.

The other interesting development was that during the worst part of the fighting between me and my wife, just before the divorce, I actually wrote a Christian book. The book is complete. It took about 5 weeks. I had a bad chair and my back was hurting in the beginning, but I bought a new chair, and also the progress got faster because I sort of became obsessed with it. So now that all the turmoil is over, I plan on trying to edit it and self publish it in early 18. (All the agents passed.) I had the courage to do that because I had been published for the first time, with my first effort in an obscure vanity press. And it was a great day when my payment for that article came in the mail: the payment was a copy of the book I was in. That’s all. But hey, it’s a start. So wish me blessings this year. Blessings on you guys!

Welcome. I have just re-discovered my love for playing guitar and I am surprised by how much I remember from a long time ago! It’s great fun.

It’s amazing how a woman can distract a man from what really makes him happy. I’ve been searching the internet for my favorite bass I had as a teenager that got destroyed in hurricane Katrina. Eventually I’ll come across one in good condition at an affordable price.
For the time being I’m satisfied w/ screaming and growling to my metal while I commute to town and back to the house. Great exercise for the diaphragm. And it’s just hilarious the reactions I get at stop lights! They already want to look over at me when they see the “No Wife, No Strife” sticker plastered across the rear window. It’s great not having someone saying “You play music too loud” or “Put on some Luke Bryan” lol screw that!

So wish me blessings this year. Blessings on you guys!

May the Lord shine His glorious light upon you!

Nice. I wish I could scream decently. But every time I do, my vocal cords get irritated quickly and I then start to cough like crazy. Damn it… lol

I can sing opera though haha.

Quite a few. Several guitar players. Whom are quite good. And even the Keymaster knows his way around 88 keys quite well.

Welcome brother, sounds like you have been very productive. I personally love guitars. Sometimes i go a long time without playing, but then i will pick one up and become obsessed again. Playing an instrument is a great hobby and can be one of the best feelings there is.

Congrats on writing the book too, that’s something I’ve always wanted to do as well and quite an accomplishment. Maybe some day…

    Welcome!

I play music all of the time. I started out playing guitar, but when my original band broke up I was forced to purchase my first drum machine (about 5 years ago). That started an addiction to old Roland gear. Now along with my guitars I have SH-101’s SH-2’s TB-303’s TR-606 a DR-55 (the best worst drum machine in my opinion) and some nice BOSS line mixers. BX-16 is my favorite. Just got rid of a Sequential Circuits Pro One. A mistake on my part.

On the guitar realm, I finally found a Rickenbacker I like. Fireglo 330. The secret is to use flatwounds and replace the hi gain pickups with vintage toasters or “Broilers” from Lollar

A couple of Esquires, a Wine Red Riviera Elitist, and 1962 Custom shop strat even out the load!

Music is tons of fun. Unfortunately, nobody goes out to see live music anymore unless it is the festival season (I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin), plus keeping an original band together is nearly impossible theses days.

Keep playing. Great to know you.

Save up some money and buy one of those reissue Minimoog Model D’s. You will never leave the house. Reverb.com is a great site for used gear.

That’s awesome! In hs band we used to go over any random major or minor scale, so playing them over and over like that drilled it into my memory. Usually it was on the marimba, an instrument I still really like the sound of.

“It’s amazing how a woman can distract a man from what really makes him happy.” My wife was really not into me playing music, especially since I had gone through a lot of instruments and a lot of bands with little to show for it.

Thanks. Even though I did spend a lot of years playing guitar, even in some groups, and writing a lot of music on it, to be honest, I look at the fretboard past the fifth fret, and it’s a total mystery. I have a relatively new Epiphone, but I don’t really play it much. But I absolutely love a lot of rock guitarists, namely Clapton. He just sounds so smooth and clean, also many people do not mention his voice, but he’s also a fabulous singer. He couldn’t hit a wrong note for all the tea in China.

If it sounds like the classic “Moog” sound, I am certain it’s cool.
