In my younger, skinner days I studied and trained Iaido.

In a nutshell, Iaido/Iaijitsu is drawing and cutting with a sword as efficiently as you can.
From different body positions, standing, kneeling (f~~~ing sucks for a westerner), laying down and from different directions.

Some describe it as ‘mental masterbation with a sword’. Think of it like the old west fast-draw competitions.

Make no mistake, the sword is real and it is a dangerous hobby, think 2.5 foot razor. I have the scar’s to prove it.

After many years of not training, my sword has been calling to me.

Tonight, as an experiment I practiced a little. I suck.

I don’t know where I am going with this other then I wanted to share.
Old passions come back. They will be hard but maybe worth the trouble.

Dig it. What do you use for a target?

"I've been thinking about what it would be like if we got back together."
"You know it's too late for that."

    Mostly air.
When I craved a target I got tatami mats (beach mats, they are cheaper).
I rolled the mats around 1″ oak dowel rods and then soaked them in water over night.

Not to be morbid but the mats, dowel and water approximate human limbs.
Pigs and dead convicts are too expensive.

Time to move forward—to firearms HA HA. That’s OK I just bought a CSA cavalry sabre—love swinging it around.

It did seem to be probably too much effort to be random. You can buy dead convicts? Wtf? Lol!

I carry. I carry a petite .45acp 1911 with 230gr PPR’s. I think she is as cute as she is deadly. IIRC, we had show and tell on zoom way back.

Make no mistake, in my prime and the distance was right, if you had a holstered pistol and I my sheathed sword, you would die.

This is not boasting. Speed kills.

There was a time when swords were ‘tested’ against live and dead convicts.
I mentioned dead convicts as a dark joke.
Today, dead pigs are used, if at all.

Have you seen the live ones on sale? Much cheaper than dead ones…. couldn’t help myself…
